Job Title: Software Engineer – AWS and Java

Highlights of this role:
Looking for candidates that are strong with AWS and Java Development. GIT is a plus.
Wants potential candidates to have solid best practices with current methodologies including Agile/Waterfall.
They are migrating from Legacy systems (data systems) to AWS. There will be no data migration for this phase. Taking on new customer data. They will be ingesting data through AWS. They may utilize Hadoop and Spark in the future.
This person will be working with the Sr. Architect who will be designing the overall integration components.
This person will also be coding the latest ETL Process/Big Data logic. AWS/Glue is important.
Job description:
This position performs moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line.
The position should have the ability to work on individual pieces of work and solve problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years of Software Engineering experience
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Proficiency with data manipulation languages.
Understanding of data modeling principles.
Ability to work with complex data models.
Proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: Basic knowledge of data infrastructure, software, and technologies.
AWS Hands-on Experience: AWS Glue ETL, Hadoop, Spark, SparkSQL, Java, S3, EMR, HBase, Lambda
Hands-on experience with SQL or any other data query language. Programming background preferred with SQL and any Big data languages.
UNIX command line experience
Use of Source Code Management tool such as GIT or equivalent
Familiarity of industry best practices — code coverage.
Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall
Knowledge of data manipulation languages.
Knowledge of data storage subsystems.
Knowledge of test-driven development.
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
Ability to complete moderately complex bug fixes.
Good oral and written communications skills.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
Work closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc while collaborating with key stakeholders.
Resolve technical issues as necessary.
Keep abreast of new technology developments.
Complete bug fixes.
