Job Description:

The IBM i System Administrator The successful candidate will be responsible the daily operations of our systems our IBM i systems (AS400). The goal of this position is to; maintain maximum availability of our IBM i server environment.
This role will work directly with the AS400 team to analyze, design, and/or implement best practices and business changes within the RPG development team

Responsibilities:
· Participate in projects associated to the enhancement upgrade/patching, or implementation of new or existing technology solutions.
· Provide oversight and facilitation of the IT AS400 change management process.
· Review, recommend and monitor the source code/versioning management function adhering to technical management guidelines.
· Provide technical leadership and ownership of issues across multiple disciplines and technologies.
· Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting.
· Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and alerting process across IBM i platform.
· Identify technical innovation and process improvement opportunities.
· Research and implement appropriate System Administration best practices, and tools.
· Monitor and manage backups.
· Installation of cumulative PTFs and upgrade packages.
· MIMIX (Replication) support.
· Provide AS400 technical support to IT and non IT employees.
· Perform operating system and/or application software updates in a timely and thoughtful fashion and in compliance with IT policies, procedures and plans.
· Research and recommend solutions to improve business performance and/or reduce cost.
· Configure, test, debug and document device and software configurations, as appropriate.
· Maintain compliance to all IT policies and procedures.
· Maintain 24x7 availability to address critical business and/or IT issues.

Required Skills:
· 4 – 7 years of experience supporting IBM i systems as system administrator.
· Experience in AS400 Security Management, Communications, Operating System Upgrades and PTF deployment, Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (iASP's), and Storage Based Replication
· Has performed at least one major system hardware upgrade
· Has performed at least one major operating system upgrade
· Has performed at least one full system restore (site-down / crash).
· Experience in using journaling, especially remote journaling.
· Experience in high availability software and multiple data centers.
