Job Title: Product/Project Engineer
Location: Troy, MI
Duration: Direct Hire

Overview
The Project Engineer is responsible for design, engineering and validation of carpet, acoustic, soft trim and floor mat program. The person is also responsible to support the Operations team to ensure a smooth transition from the Engineering/Pre-production phase into Production startup.
Responsibilities:
Design and engineer automotive interior carpet, floor mat, soft trim and acoustical projects
Assess design feasibility of acoustic design projects using predictive engineering methods (FEA/CAE/Development test analysis)
Create Engineering Change documents and communicate with appropriate departments to process changes effectively through our organization
Create or follow up on mock-up parts and prototypes that simulate the design created
Support Program Management and attend meetings with information relevant to our projects
Create engineering presentations, charts and documents with supporting engineering evidence or calculations that meet or confirm specifications
Create Bills of Materials(BOM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process FMEA, Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), open issues and other engineering/PPAP related documents
Develop testing plans and follow up on test set-ups, confirm test results and provide countermeasure plans for test anomalies
Create engineering and design standards
Engineer and lead design in 3D CAD systems and create 2D drawings that communicate the engineering criteria and standards for our products
Report changes and change alerts in the appropriate customer system (GMES, Ford WERS, etc
Provide ideas and support all AGM Cost Reduction activities
Support and document engineering activities per AGM’s APQP process
Provide engineering support and documentation to AGM’s Sales team on new business development activities
Works with the Quality Department on the development of Operator Instructions as it relates to part assembly, components (BOM), packaging and shipping.
Responsible, along with the quality team, to support and resolve any supplier or customer issues as it relates to production.
Support and track monthly metric activities
Attend customer meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must have a desire and ability to learn
Individual should possess basic understanding of carpet and acoustic design
Demonstrate the ability to create presentations and technical documents

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related field
Prior experience in automotive position, or related field
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Carpet Manufacturing and Materials
Knowledge of Sound and Acoustic measurement processes
Business travel to Asia or Europe (up to 20%)
