Job Title: Network Designer/Engineer
Location: Manassas, VA
Duration: 6+ Months Contract

The Associate Network Architect/Lead Developer will primarily participate in the design & development of several IT project-based deliverables in a financial environment. These deliverables will be focused on network components and associated network security aspects.

The primary role will be to design new or to adapt existing network infrastructures based on the received functional requirements and the high level design produced by the network architects.
The design activities include:
Solution definition (functionality, resilience, performance, security, manageability)
Product selection and recommendation
Documentation (Detailed Network Design, Release notes)
Testing (functionality, resilience, performance, security, manageability)
Proof of concept (POC)
Configuration template definition
Minimum Security Baseline definition
Support to qualification and deployment teams

The secondary role will be to act as a Center of Expertise (CoE) for her/his own competency domain.
The CoE activities cover:
Level 3 support to network operations
Technical escalation to the vendors
On-call support
Proactive/preventive network problem management
Network component lifecycle management
Network security lifecycle management
Assistance to management in the definition of network strategy and plans

Required Skills
8+ years of work experience relevant to network security, network architecture, network design, network testing or network operations.
A strong switch and routing background with LAN/WAN design experience, including :
o 10/100/1000 Ethernet, SDH, Metro-Ethernet, Wireless LAN
o MPLS, MPLS Pseudo-Wire, MPLS L3 VPN
o Routing (BGP, EIGRP, HSRP)
o Switching (Spanning tree, 802.1q)
o Quality of Service (QoS)
o Network Access Control (NAC 802.1x, , Radius, Tacacs, ISE)
A strong network security design experience, including
o Firewalls, natting/patting, high availability clustering
o Network Intrusion Detection/Protection Systems (nIDS/nIPD),
o Reverse-proxy and WEB Application Firewalls (WAF)
o Network Flow Recorder (NFR)
o Shell Control Box (SCB)
o Centralized Log Management and Analysis, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
Experience with a Unified Communications background is a plus, including :
o Call Manager, Unity Server, Presence Server
o Tandberg Management System, Video Communication System, Telepresence
o MeetingPlace, Webex
o Jabber, IP Phones, IP Video Conferencing Systems
o Contact Center Enterprise
o Familiar with Virtualization Technologies
o VMware, HyperV

Desired Skills
Previous IT experience within a financial environment
Certifications or Professional Credentials such as:
Previous experience with major network vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Checkpoint, Fortinet, Balabit, Splunk, Bluecoat, F5,…)
Previous experience with various Network OS : Cisco IOS, Juniper Netscreen and JunOS, Fortinet FortiOS,
Familiar with Unified Communication technologies (IP Telephony, Contact Center, Webex, Video and HD video conferencing …)

Minimum Educational Requirement
Master or Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
Strong project management, design/planning and implementation experience
Must be detail oriented
Fluent in English (oral and written)
