Job Description

Senior Consultant Engineer / Architect responsible for driving and delivering on strategic planning, design, and support for a MPLS/IP backbone network infrastructure including routing, switching, capacity planning and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
Define scope for projects from a network architecture / capacity standpoint.
Responsible for keeping technical data up to date (architecture, integration diagrams and documentation)
Participate in information technology projects from inception to operational/maintain status.
Participate in vendor evaluation / lab testing of new technologies and decision support
Managing core network capacity in co-operation with IP Engineering and internal customers.
Analyze network performance, and perform network planning and design with various network management tools
Provide advanced technical system expertise. Oversight and accountability for resolution of outages & service level issues

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelors and 5+ years relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) with a Tier-1 Services Provider
CCIE certification(s) - either CCIE Routing and Switching, CCIE Service Provider or CCIE Data Center

Required Skills
Must have extensive experience in building scalable, highly available, mission critical network infrastructures
Experience with the following Cisco Platforms such as Nexus 7k/5k/2k and/or ASR 9k
Extensive design experience in the following technologies OSPF, BGP, MPLS, HSRP,VRRP, VLAN/trunking, vPC, 802.x
Expert level knowledge and understanding IPv6 and MPLS VPNs
Expert level network design and architecture experience Layer 2 and Layer 3
Should have superb network design, implementation, and troubleshooting skills, as well as strong programming skills and an excellent understanding of best-of-breed network management practices.
Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, including packet-level traffic analysis
In-depth understanding of network security and access control
Knowledge of IP security implementation, multi-vendor IPS, URL filtering
Knowledge of MPLS, BGP & Internet Exchange Peering
Knowledge of QoS
Knowledge of Multicast
Knowledge of Network Management
IP Network Design & troubleshooting skills
Ability to conduct complex systems analysis and translate user requirements into business solutions
Provides input regarding scalability, capacity and performance as solutions grow - Maintain documentation on existing architectures, standards, policies and procedures
System engineering, test and link analysis skills with vendor-specific tools.
Knowledge of system architecture and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex Network Issues
