Flow Cytometry Technologist



Are you interested in working in a world-class clinical laboratory? St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has a great opportunity in the Immunopathology lab in the Department of Pathology which is CAP and CAP ISO15189 accredited. Currently, we are seeking a Medical Technologist with expertise in flow cytometry critical for managing pediatric patients with catastrophic disease. The Flow Cytometry Technologist will be responsible for:

Performing high-complexity flow cytometry testing including laboratory developed tests for Immunophenotyping, Minimal Residual Disease, CD34+ monitoring and Lymphocyte Subset analysis

Performing quality management activities in CAP ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.

Assisting the Medical Director with specific clinical research projects.

Developing and validating new procedures and protocols.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree or completion of medical technology program or equivalent in concordance with current federal and state regulations required

Minimum Experience:

Flow Cytometry Technologist I:

Two (2) years experience as a medical technologist with flow cytometry training and knowledge pertaining to multicolor immunophenotyping, DNA content and cell cycle determinations, and stem cell analysis required

Flow Cytometry Technologist II:

Four (4) years experience as a medical technologist, of which (2) years of full time flow cytometry experience with advanced multicolor immunophenotyping, DNA content and cell cycle determinations, stem cell analysis, and maintenance flow cytometry LIS data files is required

Training and experience with flow cytometry cell sorting is a plus

Computer skills in using spreadsheets, flow cytometry software (particularly FCSExpress), and analyzing LIS mode files

Required Credentials:

Current State of Tennessee licensure as a Medical Technologist or as a Special Analyst in Flow Cytometry is required. (License must be obtained prior to independent testing responsibilities

Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or AMT preferred

ASCP Board of Certificationy Qualification in Cytometry is highly desired
