Technical Writer II for Colorado Governor''s Office of Information Technology
Duration: 9+ Months
Location: Denver, Colorado
Direct Client: State Government

Summary:
Writes a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses. May be responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document.
Typically requires a bachelor''s degree in a related area and at least 2 years or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
The requested resource will develop and update documentation for the many roles, functions, processes and procedures that support the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure for CBMS and related applications.
Duties:
Primary job duties include the following:

? Create or update process flows
? Develop knowledge articles
? Create and update architecture diagrams
? Provide QA review for documents with various authors
? Participate on projects with end users, business and systems subject-matter experts and application developers to contribute to the design, development of communication materials, such as release notes, instructional guides, web based trainings, and desk aids.
? Participates on projects that enhance system functionality and/or address systems’ issues to facilitate the development and delivery of clear, concise and comprehensive project documentation
? On an ongoing basis, assist in the design, development and maintenance of user and client facing communication documents
? Conduct interviews or facilitate meetings to obtain and confirm the content in documents
? Serve as on-call or back-up resource for sending emergency communications
? Participate in post release command centers to take calls, maintain call logs and facilitate responses from subject matter experts. Document executive summaries of issues.

Minimum Requirements:
? Minimum of 1 year of experience in a system development environment
? Minimum of 3 years’ experience technical writing
? Minimum of 5 years’ experience in gathering and validating communication content
? Clear Communicator (written and verbal)
? Expertise in the application of commonly accepted style guidelines and practices as prescribed in publications such as The Chicago Manual of Style and The MLA Style Manual
? Expert knowledge of common business applications; such as, google Docs, Microsoft Office, Visio and Adobe Acrobat
? Basic knowledge of HyperText Markup Language (HTML) adequate for troubleshooting Web-site communications
? Working knowledge of concepts and artifacts that facilitate the development of web based communications, such as learning management systems and computer-aided instruction
? Strong research skills using the Internet and other tools
? Strong verbal communication skills
? Strong understanding of data governance, including the security requirements for PII and PHI.

Desired Experience:
? Understanding of a government environment and data governance
? Experience in the application of commonly accepted concepts and practices specific to the design and development of technical documents
