Job Title (informal): Infrastructure Systems Architect

$70 p/h

Position Summary:

AT&T Entertainment Group (AEG), formerly DIRECTV Broadcast and Engineering, is continuing to expand our role as the world's largest video service. Our expansion into Anytime Anywhere Video, continued explosive growth in Latin America with over the top services and with many other on-the-edge offerings continuing to launch we are seeking energetic people with a drive to explore new technologies and architect new designs to support these services. As a member of the Network and Systems Architecture team, you will be integral part in the full lifecycle infrastructure architecture, design, development and integration of critical projects for new AEG systems for all worldwide deployments. You shall possess substantial understanding of cloud offerings in public (AWS, Azure, Rackspace) and private (openstack) space and understand the architectural use cases for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS and their appropriate applications. In depth understanding of development methodologies, SDLC processes, integration patterns and operational hand-overs is required to be successful in this role.

As a senior level Infrastructure Systems Architect, you will utilize your in-depth knowledge of products from major vendors including DELL, EMC/Isilon, HP/3PAR, NetApp, VMware, Cisco, Docker and other partners/vendors to design infrastructure solution architecture that meets specific business requirements from an availability, functionality, capacity, performance and resiliency (HA &DR) objectives and helps AEG exceed customer experience and expectations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for architecture and design of information systems which will adequately support the enterprise infrastructure of the organization

Liaison with the business, application and information architecture teams and thoroughly understand their needs and requirements

Conceptualize the solution and provide technology guidance and non-functional requirements in the building of system specification documents

Ensure that systems will offer security and will be effectively integrated with current applications

Positively contribute in performance, capacity and security planning with minimal guidance and supervision

Ensure that all systems are working at optimal levels and offer support to application development department regarding new technologies and system requirements.

Meet business objectives and budgetary requirements for each project, without compromising the solution architecture and design.

Possess thorough knowledge of infrastructure, application programming, and web and software application design principles

Thoroughly understand the Waterfall and Agile project methodologies, their use-cases and Architecture role and deliverables associated with them

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in monitoring and reporting on deployed compute products.

Present solution architecture artifacts to key Business and IT stakeholders with rollup/roll-down capabilities when explaining

Build non-functional requirements, blue-print hand-off documents, implementation specifics, MVP for system infrastructure

Identify and validate the emerging cutting edge technologies in the infrastructure space

Assess new technology capabilities , evangelize hardware standardization and ingestion in AEG blueprints for BAU & Strategic initiatives

Play key role in the Architecture Review Board to help minimize design exceptions and waivers and document customizations and technical debt to infrastructure blue prints

Partner with the product ingest team over corporate initiatives and incoming project proposals

Work with platform vendors to understand their products create RFI’s, rationalize the feedback and create SOW to engage Professional Services

Required Qualifications:

Degree in engineering or related field and 7 years relevant experience is preferred

Experience in large-scale compute systems design, integration and installation that includes a strong in-depth working knowledge of various bare-bone and virtualization technologies, public and private cloud, storage technologies like SAN, NAS and cloud, Operating Systems (Linux, Windows), Load Balancers, databases (Oracle, DB2, Sybase, Cassandra, Couchbase, Hadoop) and data mining and reporting technologies

Proven track record in designing, planning and building highly available and scalable 24/7 compute platform

Excellent communication (oral and written) along with evangelizing skills with peers, leadership and cross-functional teams towards a collaborative output is a must

Interpersonal attributes laced with Emotional Intelligence, negotiation and facilitation skills is required

Strong understanding of the various Enterprise Architectural Frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, FEA, Gartner) with expertise in one

Strong demonstrated skill in flow sequencing, mind-map, integration patterns across heterogeneous and multi-vendor systems is required.

Good to Have Qualifications:

Knowledge of network technologies, common infrastructure components and physical infrastructure design

Knowledge of latest video and over the top delivery technologies including mobile and second screen technologies

Background in high volume, high growth entertainment and media vertical market is preferred
