Job Summary:

Our UX team is a collection of talented User Researchers, UX Designers and UI Developers evangelizing and serving design in multiple facets of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. With a varied mix of internal tools used by our employees to public applications consumed by the general public, we have an opportunity to spread good design to an industry that needs it most. As a UI Developer, you will join us as we partner with business-line contacts, technology managers and cross-functional development teams to develop sophisticated interfaces for a myriad of applications for the central bank of the United States.
Key Activities:

As a UI Developer, you will be a member of a growing UX team, working with our User Researchers and our UX Designers in our user centered design process. You will fill the middle ground between UX Designers and Backend/Application Developers by combining both design sensibilities and technical skills together. You are skilled at both making something look good and function properly, by turning given visual designs or wireframes into HTML/CSS/JS code supporting a variety of browser compatibilities. You have an in-depth understanding of how browser rendering engines behave and are to be able to implement a design for web and mobile consumption. You possess the instincts for interaction design, interpreting existing designs for filling in additional detail. You focus on the way the functionality is displayed and the fine detail of how users interact with the interface, as you produce functioning front-end code that meets or exceeds the user''s expectation. This is very much about high production value and polished final outputs.fit-and-finish.
Qualifications:
Expert experience in one or more of the following Javascript libraries and frameworks: JQuery, Angular, Knockout, Bootstrap.
Capable of writing Javascript code to manipulate the DOM and consume JSON via REST API
Proficient experience writing CSS and is interested in using newer technologies such as SASS
Heavy use of debugging tools for Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome and Firefox
Able to look at a UI mockup or wireframe and implement it using Javascript, HTML5 and CSS3
Able to communicate thoughts on your own and others’ designs, then implement them in a friendly and encouraging way.
Able to work independently or as part of a team
Write high-quality code with an emphasis on security, performance, and scalability.
Actively participate and contribute to the design and development discussions.
Work closely with project managers, application development teams, and business analyst.
Bring technical validity to business requirements, wireframes and/or design specifications.
Be accountable for technical vision and operational decisions related to front-end functional development.
Handle related technical design, development, and technical project management.
Spend some time staying current with relevant and emerging technologies for web and mobile.
Ability to debug existing code and understand its flow.
