Job Description
The Systems Administrator supports and manages data backup services and provides remote support of backup services globally. In addition, the Systems Administrator provides general system support for IT services. Performs system maintenance activities on local servers as well as assisting in global support for the enterprise-wide Information Technology portfolio. The IT portfolio includes Windows servers, both physical and virtual, Windows workstations, and Active Directory.
Experience:
Strong experience with Windows system administration tasks.
Strong application layer troubleshooting experience.
Strong experience of industry experience working in a customer support role providing technical application support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and supports the Data Backup infrastructure
Manages and coordinates off-site storage
Follows procedures and policies in the management of IT infrastructure
Recommends systems solutions in support data backup requirements
Participates in global system maintenance activities
Provides guidance to the global system administration team on matters pertaining to data backup
Supports server patching and system maintenance activities
Provides feedback and reports to IT management on backup activities.
Other duties as assigned
Skills:
Basic knowledge of basic programming and systems analysis procedures.
Basic knowledge of relevant programming languages.
Good communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in the development process.
Administering Windows-based Networks
Trouble-shooting/maintaining TCP/IP networks and of Linux or Unix Operating systems
Strong understanding of backup procedures and methodologies
Experience with Symantec NetBackup and Quantum Tape Libraries
Strong understanding and knowledge of Windows System Administration.
Knowledge of IT systems and applications - Strong understanding of workstation and server troubleshooting
Good communications and technical writing skills.
Good understanding of Active Directory and LDAP
Good understanding of both Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems
Ability to work independently; good problem solving skills
Current Microsoft Certifications are a plus
This is 6-12 month contract opportunity with a complete benefits package available from the start of the contract.
