Job Description :
VMware vSphere Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective & efficient provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of vSphere systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. In addition, this covers the adoption of related processes and procedures guarantying the implementation of system hardware, operating systems, software systems.
Scope of Work Examples: Technology Family: Windows, Linux, Windows Infra (AD, DNS, WINS, DHCP, File & Print, IIS, FTP), ISA/Proxy, Storage (Legato, IPStor & SAN), NetGil/Citrix, VMware, etc.
Candidate in this role need to have a minimum of 5+ years VMware enterprise level experience
Experience planning and leading VMware migrations, experience in optimizing VMware for utilization of SAN storage, experience implementing VMware with different types of storage, experience in migrating large numbers of virtual servers to new SAN arrays without impacting users.
Experience in configuring VMware clusters for ease of management, support of data bases, UNIX and Windows OS, experience supporting VMware disaster recovery solutions and experience using blade servers within a VMware environment.
Experience using monitoring tools like vCenter Operations Manager, strong verbal and written communication skills, very strong analysis/troubleshooting skills.
Must have experience in Scripting and vSphere Power CLI.
Prefer experience with chassis and blade management systems.
Conducts performance tuning, problem resolution, storage administration, security administration, capacity planning, policy administration.
Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, host and vm server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Performs daily vSphere backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts & groups per request.
Grants and removes access to server and related resources. .
Applies OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configures/adds new services as necessary.
Upgrades and configures system software per project and/or operational needs.
Maintains operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Prepares basic reports and presentations as requested or necessary within his IT team
Has VMware Certifications and experience. A plus would be Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) or UNIX, Linux equivalent certification
