Position: Principal Engineer
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Duration: 1 year

This technical leadership position is responsible for leading the development of embedded software for control systems products within our Building Efficiency business.

Responsibilities and duties:
- Team member/lead responsible for the development of controller products in accordance with our Product Development Process;
- Leading the development of product requirements;
- Working with the cross-functional team to define the system architecture;
- Works closely with the Hardware Design Team to develop HAL code;
- Defining product conformance/qualification test plans and criteria, supporting test with timely resolution of issues found;
- Analyzing and solving complex hardware/software issues;
- Supporting and encouraging a philosophy of cooperation within the group, and being both a role model and mentor for more junior software engineers;
- Coordinating and participating in software design and code reviews/inspections;
- Documenting and archiving software program releases in accordance with the Software Development Process;
- Overseeing field testing including timely resolution of issues found;
- Strongly advocating for the adherence to software development best practices such as unit testing, code reviews, static analysis, etc.;
- Keeping abreast of technical advancements in wireless technologies, programming languages, software development techniques and tools, etc.

The candidate must have exceptionally good knowledge of real-time design and embedded operating systems and be familiar with the OSI communication standard. Strong working understanding of Embedded Software and C/C++ programming is desired.

Client require a Bachelor''s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (desired), or Software Engineering with 7+ years of engineering experience. A Master’s degree in a related field is desired. Knowledge of the entire product development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, test and deployment) is needed. Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with the proven ability to interact with other disciplines outside of engineering are a must. Experience with agile development and CMMI are preferred.
