Title: Technical Project Manager – Virtualization & High Availability Orchestration

Terms: Long Term Contract ( 6 Month Initially then will get extensions, possibly Multi-year contract)

Location: Downtown Dallas, TX


This is a Technical Project Manager position responsible for leading infrastructure projects dealing with Virtualization and High Availability Orchestration (HAO As this is a Technical position, hands on experience/knowledge of physical and virtual server builds is REQUIRED. Ideal candidates will have held hands-on technical roles and moved into Leadership roles where they are leading the team and managing projects while still maintaining their ability to jump in where needed to build physical and virtual servers. This position will primarily be focused on driving the team towards a solution, managing project schedules, assigning tasks etc. but some hands-on work may be required.

Job Duties:

· Manage Virtualization of the Data Center

· Manager High Availability Orchestration

· Participate in solution option evaluations with IT teams and business partners

· Responsible for initial planning and estimation of projects and requests

· Interfaces with PMO on developing a comprehensive project plan and leading business partners in their areas such as training, testing, operational changes/plans, user acceptance testing and deployment to the field (global locations)

· Responsible for meeting with business/technical partners directly and facilitating/leading requirements/WBS gathering sessions (white boarding, brainstorming)

· Plans, coordinates, monitors and drives risks, issues and timelines, managing the full project lifecycle including resource allocation, progress tracking and monitoring change control

· Analyzes business and user needs, documentation of requirements per company standards, and translation into proper system requirement specifications

· Drives the project team to deliver timeline, critical milestones and overall deliverables of the project

· Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with stakeholders

· Develop full-scale project plans, schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools

· Manage schedule, dependencies, and resource utilization across work plans

· Monitor and manage expectations, conduct milestone reviews, manage process performance, conduct continuous improvement and causal analysis activities

· Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project - oversee the implementation of corrective actions and review current mitigation and resolution activities

· Conduct project close-outs and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements

· Hands-On Technical Work building Physical and Virtual servers as needed


· Strong Technical Expertise with Virtualization and High Availability Orchestration

· Hands-on Technical Experience/Expertise with Virtual and Physical Server Builds

· Experience as a Project Manager OR in a Leadership position with project management duties

· Experience planning and leading infrastructure projects that deal with Server Builds and Cycles - must have strong virtualization

· Must be able to quickly understand and resolve issues, mitigate risks and dependencies and drive projects to completion

· Experience with technologies for data center migrations/operations

· Experience with Schedule Management, Issue and Risk Management and Scope Management

· Familiar with the following technologies: Hardware OS – OEL (Oracle Enterprise Linux, IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, Linux/Unix, VMWare, Storage SANs, Oracle Databases, Network Switches, Firewalls, etc

· Strong project delivery skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills

· Excellent organizational skills

· Ability to adapt and excel in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

· Ability to manage changing priorities and make sound business decisions.

· Ability to own and drive issues to resolution, sense of urgency with strong follow-up skills

· Position requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to interact and collaborate with other IT teams
