Job Role : IT Strategist ( Desktop Integration )

Duration: 12 Months Plus Extension

Location : White Plains. NY

Major Purpose of Job:

The client is in the planning stages and seeking a contractor with both business and technical skills to assist in the integration of: Desktop and Portable Computers, Office Multi-function Devices, Mobile Devices, and Call Center Operations.

This position would engage with business/mission stakeholders at both Canals and Client, to understand their objectives and appropriately translate/integrate them into specific Information Technology (IT) strategies, programs, initiatives, and investments at Client.

Essential Job Functions:

Ensure the business/mission objectives are informed of possible capabilities, opportunities, and security threats.

Serve as liaison between the business/mission and IT components of the organization and play an important role in shaping the specific IT goals, activities, and resources needed to fulfill business strategies, and to actively contribute to mission outcomes.
Conduct research to identify and analyze impacts on Client and Canals of parallel technologies on business operations, and advise on strategies for adoption where appropriate.

The initial task will be to develop an RFP for the service and repair of 200 desktop computers and printers at 68 locations from Albany to Buffalo along NYS Canal System. The candidate will be involved through the vendor selection and implementation process. Candidate will work Clients Procurement Dept. and process, to successfully develop and award contract.

Candidate will develop Canal’s target operating model (TOM) and road map for desktop equipment life cycle and integration with Client ’s environment long-term.

Candidate will review existing Call Center Operations presently handled by NYS Canal System and make recommendations on how to integrate into Client operations.

Include an understanding of business and technology drivers within the context of both enterprises, and facilitate processes that ensure IT and business planning are fully integrated on a continuous basis going forward so as to increase business capability and value, reduce cost and risk, foster innovation, and maximize accountability and return on investment.

Be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, be well versed in current and emerging IT trends, and have strong industry experience working at the management level.

Creation of general IT desktop policies and procedures, and installation and technical procedures. Position will also involve the development of request for proposals (RFPs), with guidance, according to Client requirements. Contractor must be able to work independently and seek out needed information from various Canal and Client departments.

The individual must have strong written and verbal skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

A background in mergers and acquisitions and the understanding of their complexity, would be preferred

Ability to work well with outside vendors, at a technical and administrative level.

Knowledge of typical networked desktop technical environments including: Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365, Apple i Phones, mobile device management, application’s and networking technologies (SAP, People Soft, Oracle, MS Enterprise Cloud suite, Cisco, VMWare, etc

Skill sets and Experience:

Candidates must possess skill sets and experience in most (if not all ) of the activities indicated below:

Demonstrated project management leadership with track record of successful projects

Experience in organizing and managing multiple projects/tasks

Excellent customer-facing skills and professional manner

Demonstrated success in communicating effectively with, and influence individuals at all levels of the
organization

Proven ability to work independently as well to work effectively in a team-based environment

Demonstrated ability to pitch in to create the best atmosphere for ALL to be successful on the project
team

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including oral, written, facilitation, mediation,
collaboration, and presentation skills

Demonstrated ability to set and meet deadlines

Proven ability to gather and document customer requirements

Experience with bid processes including creating request for proposals and evaluating vendor
responses.

Ability to use Microsoft Office products

5+ years’ experience in project management practices and procedures including managing small to
midsize project
