Our client, a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of integrated systems for analysis of genetic variation and biological functions and serving customers at genomic research centers, clinical research organizations, biotechnology & pharmaceutical companies, seeks an accomplished Firmware Systems Engineer.

The firmware systems engineer works with stake holders (end users, marketing, R&D scientist, software and firmware developers, etc to develop the requirements and test regime of custom firmware.
As a Firmware Systems and Test Engineer, you will assume a lead role in the design, development and test of integrated systems which support biochemistry based laboratory and manufacturing operations. Research, analyze and design complex information systems and technology solutions in support of business needs.
You will provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to define, design, develop and test laboratory systems including both software and hardware in a FDA regulated environment.
Lead use case development, requirements elicitation, requirements analysis and review meetings.
Take leadership on working with a multidisciplinary team in transforming an operational/customer/business need into a description of system parameters/requirements.
Write formal software and/or firmware requirements specifications and documentation, including how-to guides, cookbooks, reference material, technical overviews, architecture overviews, process flows, high-quality diagrams, etc.
Work with system/software/firmware architect and development teams on overall system design to meet requirements.
Assist in creating design control documentation. Create and execute test plans for new products/features, focusing on firmware while ensuring adequate test coverage.
Be a proponent of automation, and work to enhance our test automation capability through scripting and other software tools.
Investigate system/software/firmware issues and provide detailed defect reports.

Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience in biotech/biomedical product development and/or systems engineering.
Strong analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audience.
Strong presentation skills to present ideas and information in group meetings.
Familiarity with FW testing, test automation development, and scripting, including programming experience in C, C++, Python or similar.
A good understanding of the software development lifecycle (Agile, Waterfall, SCRUM), and experience with a variety of testing techniques (Black, Gray, White

Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience with Next Generation Sequencing Instruments.
Experience with primary and secondary sequencing data analysis.
Experience with high volume manufacturing systems and working with automation and database systems.
Experience with Digital systems such as microprocessors, programmed logic devices, and microelectronic devices.
