Job Description :
The Network Architect will oversee the design, implementation, operational support, maintenance, and optimization of network hardware, software, and communication links. This position will also work closely with the Director, IT Infrastructure to set priorities and provide team leadership to the Network Services team to accomplish day-to-day operations and strategic projects. The Network Architect will apply industry best practices and methodologies and enterprise standards to ensure that the network provides reliable and secure data and voice service and supports the organization’s business objectives and mission. This position will also work closely with the Systems Engineering Team to implement new systems. The Network Architect will be responsible for establishing and maintaining vendor relationships, analysis of products and services with purchasing recommendations to senior management. The Network Architect will assist as an escalation point on the analysis of network issues and provide timely and thorough resolution, and provide training and mentoring to other team members. A wide degree of creativity, latitude and independence is expected.

Key Outcomes:
Provide technical leadership to the Network Services team in order to accomplish day-to-day operations and strategic projects and provide feedback on team member performance to the Director, IT Infrastructure.
Architect, Design, implement, and operate communication networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
Architect, Design, implement, and operate LANs, WLANs, and WANs, using equipment including Cisco routers, switches, wireless network equipment, content switches/load-balancers, network security devices, UPSs, and other network devices
Develop, Maintain, and follow enterprise standards
Monitor network performance and perform capacity management
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, processes, and service records
Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network hardware, software, and peripheral devices
Work in collaboration with facilities management teams to ensure proper environmental requirements are met for IDF/MDF build-outs
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
Perform advanced analysis of network reporting/data to assist in design and/or troubleshooting efforts
Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry
Develop and maintain lab environments to test and evaluate configurations and new technologies
Perform audits and backups
Ensure compliance to project plans, and deliverables for the network engineering team
Act as a Tier 3 escalation point for other team members
Provide technical leadership, guidance and support to other members of the team
Education/Experience:
B.S. or B.A. degree in MIS, CIS, CS, or equivalent combination of education and experience
10+ years network architecture/engineering experience in a similar organization

Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):
Cisco Certifications, i.e. CCNA, CCDA, CCDP, CCNP and/or CCIE are highly preferred

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
