Our client, with missions in University teaching, research and public service and half-million annual enrollments, seeks an accomplished Data Warehouse/Repository Data Analyst.

Client is sponsoring the development of a data repository solution serving the information and reporting needs.
In this highly complex technical and organizational environment, the Data Analyst position will be responsible for identifying channels for data collection, analyzing large volumes of data, and logically structuring data into meaningful metrics.
Additionally, the data analyst will provide consultation and support in the analysis and interpretation of source systems, and development and management of the new target systems.
Under the direction of Data Services Manager, the candidate will support the team’s Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence efforts by compiling, cleaning, and manipulating large data sets to support complex business challenges.
The Data Analyst will brainstorm solutions, conduct research and analysis, and synthesize results into presentations for the Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence team review.

At all stages of the project the Data Analyst works with the BI team to understand and analyze the business data and process flow.
This position will be responsible for providing high level of subject matter expertise for the source system data for reporting, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence and analytics applications.
Analyze and understand data from multiple source systems, and document and present findings to the team. Monitor data trends to proactively identify issues
Review, understand and document source systems’ data structures, data models, data dictionaries, metadata, and data exports in various formats including XML. Field all questions related to the source system data. Be able to estimate the volume of data originating from the source system.
Interface with the Client source system owners, as well as vendors/solution providers, to coordinate and formulate a process for all activities related to data import.
Conduct data profiling of data originated in the source systems to assess data values for consistency, uniqueness and logic, and identify business rules violations and anomalies. Develop the resulting data exceptions report and suggest remediation strategies.
Review, identify, and document consistencies and inconsistencies in the source application usage and the resulting data generated in the source system across medical centers.
Evaluate content, structure and quality of the data to provide metrics for assessment of data and help determine whether the metadata accurately describes the source data.
Develop and implement data verification plan to check data for logical and systematic errors or inconsistencies. Research and analyze data disparities affecting the quality of data and propose course correction steps. Collaborate with the data architect to formulate strategies for data transformation, cleansing and governance.
Collaborate with the data architect to analyze the different target data stores and create logical and physical data models.
Collaborate with the systems analyst to create mapping specifications to map data elements from the source data system to the destination data system, and document business and transformation rules.
Work with the systems analyst to compare data output to ensure data accuracy by creating basic QA test plans and validating data for accuracy.
Contribute to the development of core data infrastructure: ETL, data cleaning, peer reviewing team members’ code, architecture/design work, etc.
Collaborate with the development and reporting teams, and data architect, on the design of ETL jobs, creation of the business reports, etc.
Participate in and support functional unit testing, integration testing, system testing and user acceptance testing activities, including authoring test plans, scripts, and data validation and certification processes.
Provide the project lead with status and progress reports on data analysis, development and maintenance activities, as required.
Work with the project lead on project deliverables. Participate in other technology related projects as assigned.
Apply advanced IT concepts to perform highly complex technical functions from multiple IT areas of specialization.
Work on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Collaborate with other IT team members in the development and implementation of standards, policies, and best practices for a data repository solution.

Minimum seven years of experience with data related projects with at least five years performing data analysis for large, complex data warehousing and business intelligence systems.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Information Systems, Statistics or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High proficiency with SQL (extensive experience querying large, complex data sets), XML, Data Modeling Language (DML), Data Definition Language (DDL), MS Excel (pivoting capabilities, analysis modules
Experience with RDBMS and data warehousing.
Knowledge of professional IT concepts.
Technical skills to collaborate with the data architect in the formulation of a solution for a data repository/warehouse.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate clearly to both business and technical teams.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated, able to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.

Knowledge of operational healthcare hospital/clinical workflows, health care trends, policies, and regulations such as HIPAA.
Experience with medical incident data and reporting (RL Solutions), and in the installation of health care information systems.
Experience with business intelligence reporting.
Familiarity with Big Data concepts and Hadoop eco system (HDFS, sqoop, pig, hive, HCatalog, security, ELT, etc
Familiarity with role-based security concepts.
Experience working in a cloud environment, virtualized workspace, and VPN.
