Ability to work independently to resolve issues
Increase efficiency and lower support costs of client legacy servers
Experience migrating databases and application servers to 3rd party environment
Champion of change management- all changes in production environments are facilitated by the DBA
Ability to work effectively in a team environment (collaborative, communicates with others proactively)
Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance
Assist developers (Powerbuilder, .net, SQL) on the most efficient database designs and implementations (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, etc)
Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes and ensuring performance by modifying these indices
