The position requires a hands-on database technologist with both database administration and database development experience. Also required is advanced expertise in performance tuning activities. Good written & verbal communication skills are needed to work with various project teams. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently, and able to learn new skills on the job as project requirements expand.
Primary responsibilities:
We’re looking for a Senior DBA to administer and maintain non-production and production environments using the following technologies: IBM DB2 on zOS platform and IBM DB2 LUW (LINUX/UNIX/WINDOWS) on AIX/Solaris/zLinux platforms.
Experience with IBM InfoSphere Information Server products and/or IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management product is required.
DBA will be responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration.
Additional duties include: backup and recovery, configuration of database parameters, prototyping designs against logical data models, definition of data repository, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements, optimization of database access and allocation of database resources for optimum configuration of database performance and cost.
Required: Bachelor''s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience and 10 years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment.
Experience with VLDB (very large database) environments
Strong SQL skills including the ability to rewrite complex queries to improve performance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize, multitask and work with onshore and offshore team
