Our client, a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of integrated systems for analysis of genetic variation and biological functions and serving customers at genomic research centers, clinical research organizations, biotechnology & pharmaceutical companies, seeks an accomplished Health Safety Environment Specialist.

Responsible for supporting the development, planning, and implementation of health, safety and environment programs.
Responsible for supporting applicable health, safety, and environment compliance programs.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action identification and Environment Information Management System (EiMS) system management.
Support the ergonomics program managing ergonomic requests through HSE Action Tracking Tool (HAT) and conducting evaluations within the office and production environments.
Follow up on HSE Suggestions submitted through HAT within the site.
Act as the lead for the chemical inventory program which includes coordination of consultants performing inventories, communication with area reps, and collection of data.
Manage the environmental programs such as air emissions, storm water and wastewater requirements, including system tracking through EiMS.
Lead the self-inspection program including conducting inspections and metrics generation.
Act as the lead for the monitoring and routing of emails from mailbox.
Coordinate FM Global visits and recommendation follow-up with resolution through MyRisk System.
Facilitation of the site safety committee through coordination of meetings.
Support the sustainability initiative through collection of data through vendors and inputting of information into the EiMS.
Coordinate and conduct training in areas such as laboratory health and safety, emergency preparedness and response, life safety, ergonomics, etc.
Support construction project safety reviews and permit to work requests as needed.
Liaison between location and local regulatory agencies.
Other responsibilities may include: regulatory interpretation, planning, auditing, and information systems evaluation and implementation.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, environmental health and safety or related field preferred.
5 – 10 years relevant experience.
Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech or chemical company preferred.
Environmental compliance experience.
Experience with DNR and local FD requirements.
Knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.
Experience in various lab safety programs.
Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and skills typically acquired through previous positions in fast-paced corporate environments which involved responsibility for similar work.
