Job Description:
Sr. UNIX Engineer
The Unix engineer will be responsible for the configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting of UNIX (Solaris/RHEL) operating systems. The engineer will participate in agile departmental projects including the development of project plans, documentation, and performing of project tasks. Additional responsibilities include user account management, performance monitoring/tuning and backup/recovery.

Job Requirements:
Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
Knowledge and hands on experience with FTP and secure FTP
Knowledge and hands on experience with DNS, name services and general networking configurations
SNMP knowledge in respect to setting up monitoring and alerting for Unix/Linux systems
Shell and Perl scripting capability
System performance and capacity planning
Works under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions
Tests new release levels of existing products to insure compatibility and minimize user impact
Advanced knowledge of Solaris 10/11 virtualization methods
Knowledge in VMWare Hypervisor 5.x
Experience in Puppet Labs/Automation
Supporting applications/DB like SAP/Oracle

The ideal candidate will have:
7 years’ experience with Oracle/Sun servers
7 years’ experience with Solaris 10/11 administration
5 years’ experience with LDOM/Zones/Containers
5 years’ experience with setting up and supporting clustering software (i.e. VCS or Oracle)
5 years LINUX (RHEL 5/6) experience
5 years with Unix/Linux scripting
5 years’ experience in setting up new enterprise level environment (not operational support)
5 years’ experience supporting Middleware software such as Websphere or Weblogic
3 years’ experience with ZFS filesystems
3 years’ experience with Solaris Volume Manager

B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent required.
