Senior Network Engineer

Position Overview

Senior Network Engineer with solid design experience for our growing Systems, Networks, Storage solution. Relevant CCIE certification is strongly preferred, but is not required. This person is required to have a solid understanding of core routing and switching design using Cisco recommended best practices. The ideal candidate will also have some basic Cisco Voice and Security experience. This is an exciting opportunity to work with best-in-class technology and to work alongside a great team of passionate, knowledgeable engineers.
The Network Engineer will be based out of our New York City office but will be required to work at client locations throughout the New York metropolitan area
This is a full-time position offering full benefits, a competitive salary, paid training and performance-based bonuses
Up to 25 percent travel may be required

Act a Professional Services Engineer working on assigned projects to support our clients’ network infrastructure requirements, including configuring and supporting medium- and large-scale networks
Drive the design process, working with other senior engineers and network architects
Gather client requirements and build network typologies/designs based on provided information then configure and deploy the appropriate networking technologies as needed
Cross-train and assist on Cisco Voice projects and support initiatives as needed
Responsible for working with clients to understand their business goals and requirements and making recommendations for solutions
Follow the project methodology and generate network documentation as directed by project managers
Five or more years of experience deploying and supporting Cisco IP LAN/WAN technologies is required
CCIE certification is preferred
Experience with Cisco router/switch platform and an in-depth understanding of Data Center Architecture, equipment, and instrumentation
Ideal candidate will be teamwork-oriented, passionate about technology and possess an excellent consultative skills, work ethic and communication skills with the ability to educate and advise clients about key technology decisions
Any Cisco Voice experience would be beneficial
This role will be primarily focused on Cisco technologies, but some experience with Juniper, Palo Alto and Riverbed products would be a plus
Core routing and switching configuration, troubleshooting and usage of Cisco-recommended practices, such as:
Routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, HSRP
WAN connectivity, such as T1/T3, OC3, OC12, frame relay, ATM
Spanning tree, VTP, port channels, load balancing, SPAN
Multicast PIM sparse/dense, MSDP
We are looking for an engineer with broad knowledge of and experience in some of the following areas:
Cisco data center architecture configuration including Nexus 7K, 5K, 2K and UCS servers
ACS for network authentication, authorization and accounting
NAC integration with data and wireless infrastructure
Cisco network security, ASA firewalls 5585-X and other models
MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, Multicast, IPv6, DWDM, SONET, Metro Ethernet, LAN/WAN network design, configuration and troubleshooting
Configuring lightweight and autonomous APs, WLAN controllers, WCS and circuits, Bidirectional Line Switched Ring (BLSR) and ML-card configuration
MPLS traffic engineering design, configuration and troubleshooting
LDP, TDP, RSVP label distribution
Basic understanding of SAN technologies (FC, FCoE, NPV, NPIV, FSPF, iSCSI, etc is a plus
