JOB Description:


In accordance with the terms and conditions and scope of services included in the above reference contract, you are requested to submit a proposal for the services described herein.

1.1. SCOPE OF WORK:


Client requires professional services from up to four (4) IT Software testers in the IT Project Management area. The testers will take direction from Test Coordinators and engage with the IT project teams during the testing phase. They will work directly with the test coordinators to conduct automated and manual tests to ensure the software or application created by developers meets the original functional requirements, i.e., is fit for purpose.

The testers will report and provide testing status updates to test coordinators and the Project Manager as assigned. The type of project work to be tested may be varied (e.g. software as a solution applications, web-based software applications, SAP applications, etc Tester’s role may vary depending on the project requirements. They may join a project at the initial implementation stages to assess potential risks, or be brought on to a project midway through when testing becomes a key activity and requirement. Work activities will include:

Working on multiple projects at one time and performing hands-on testing independently

Meeting with system users to understand the functional scope of the project, i.e., test scripts and plans

Working with software developers and project support teams

Understanding business requirements

Performing stress testing

Performing performance testing

Performing functional testing

Performing scalability testing

Writing and executing test scripts

Running manual and automated tests

Recording and documenting results and compare to expected results

Recording and documenting anomalies and issues

Testing in different environments including web and mobile

Isolating, replicating, and reporting defects and verify defect fixes

Working towards departmental and project deadlines

Providing objective feedback and presenting findings to software development project teams and end-users

Working with testing coordinators and project teams to design tests to mitigate risk

Participating in production support by troubleshooting problems and identifying solutions.

All testing assignments are completed on schedule.

Independently performs testing activities

Can read project documentation with the requirements to figure out how to test

Works with test coordinator to document, troubleshoot and isolate problems encountered during testing.

Successfully performs multiple technical projects simultaneously.

Other departments identify you as a Subject Matter Expert on features of the application as well as the testing process.

Recommendations and reports provided to project teams are precise and accurate.

Consistently demonstrates success.

Mandatory Requirements

Three or more years of demonstrated experience in testing and quality assurance (QA) activities. Advanced knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, automated testing and terminology

Three or more years of demonstrated experience with analyzing requirements, executing and documenting tests and performing manual or automated, tool- driven testing scenarios

Experience working with HP ALM and UFT toolset, both manual and automated testing

Bachelor’s degree in MIS or CIS or Computer Science or related experience

Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and Iterative development methodologies

Demonstrated ability to integrate the whole picture through creation of end-to-end test scenarios along with functional, regression, and performance (stress/load) test plans


Technical Requirements

Proposed contractor must have the ability to:

Experience in Quality Management Software and Processes

Knowledge and experience in technical aspects of software solution being tested

Knowledge and hands-on experience of Automation tool: Below tools can be used for Automate testing of applications:

o Selenium
o HP UFT / QTP: They must know VBScript Language
o Performance testing tools like Jmeter, Loadrunner, etc.
o ETL testing tools like Abinitio, Informatica, etc.

Knowledge of any scripting language: Knowledge of any scripting language like
VBScript, JavaScript, C#, etc.

Knowledge and hands-on experience of a Test Management Tool:

o For example - A tool like HP ALM can be used for tracking all the test cases written by the team.

Knowledge and hands-on experience of any Defect Tracking tool: Several tools are used at Client including HP ALM and Bugzilla.



Desirable Qualifications

Basic knowledge of Database/SQL and XML

Basic knowledge of Linux commands

Good documentation and report writing skills: To generate reports on the testing being done, and to translate them into concise reports to management. A test must be able to report on structured test cases in a way that is meaningful to the business in which they’re operating.

Logical & Critical Thinking Skills: Logical, critical thinking and the ability to learn at a fast pace are important to any testing role. Having a good attention to detail can help a tester better analyze information, and analyze the right information at the right time.

Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Software testers who know the basics of programming and SDLC will be more effective in testing new software. A test analyst will be better positioned to test software when they can relate to and imagine the coding structure that’s going on behind the scenes.

Good Communication Skills: To effectively communicate with various stakeholders at multiple levels of an organization. This will have a customer facing component for Customer facing acceptance of the solution.

Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables – to find the bad defects and bugs quickly

Ability to gain the respect of the development teams on the basis of technical knowledge, hands-on style and decision-making ability on technical issues.

Ability to prioritize, solve complex tasks and recognize and escalate risks without direct supervision

Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple activities with changing priorities simultaneously

Competency to utilize Company software and proficiency in MS software applications and a willingness to learn new systems as necessary

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interact effectively with different groups and escalate risks on time

Ability to function as a team player and to be a self-starter

Experience with developing/ enhancing automation tools is a plus




1.6. TECHNICAL SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS



Consultant should submit at least a one page statement for each candidate that must describe any relevant experience, i.e., type of task, key responsibilities, level of testing performed, types of projects, approach used, etc.
