Job Description :
ROLE-BACKEND JAVA DEVELOPER.
As a highly engaged IT professional, develop and maintain systems in support of the Retirement Plans Division (RPD) for Mutual of Omaha. Contractor must be a continuous learner who is passionate about technology and who is eager to work in a highly collaborative co-located environment with the goal to increase overall team performance and delivery.

Primary Skill Required:
Java
Second Skill Required: Javascript (ES6 & React preferred)
Third Skill Required: Relational databases (DB2-LUW or SQL preferred)


II. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES/DELIVERABLES
1. Services Description:

Lead and/or participate in the analysis and design efforts in support of application and business requirements. Design within the architectural and system strategy constraints.

Understand and apply accepted application development and integration processes in all development activities. Actively participate in efforts to improve existing processes.

Work closely with internal business partners to resolve problems and and escalate issues to leadership when necessary.

Ability to stay abreast of emerging technology and integration into best practices and apply those best practices in our environment.


Preferred qualifications to provide software development within our technical stack include:
Spring Boot
JavaScript (React preferred)
Test Driven Development
Groovy
REST
IntelliJ
Spock / Junit
Hibernate/JPA
Single Page Applications
TCServer

Additional qualifications that could be utilized in addition to the above skills are:
ETL – SSIS or Informatica
Experience with micro services and APIs


B. Deliverables Description (if applicable):
Provide application support for java legacy applications in addition to delivering new features and applications to support an overall transformation of Retirement Plans Division application suite.
Production support and enhancements to existing legacy systems.
Development of new greenfield applications.
Sharing of knowledge (potentially mentoring) across the wider delivery team of developers and business analysts.
