Position Summary:
As a Greenplum Database Administrator you will be responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and on-going support of Arity’s Greenplum Analytic Data Warehouse on AWS.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage large scale multi-tenant Greenplum cluster environments residing on AWS.
Handle all Greenplum environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.
Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Greenplum database.
Creation of key performance metrics, measuring the utilization, performance and overall health of the cluster.
Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded hardware and software releases as well as for storage infrastructure.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Ability to closely calibrate with product managers and lead engineers.
Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures
Ensure existing data/information assets are secure and adhering to a best in class security model.
Manage backup and recovery functions for a Greenplum data warehouse environment
Proactively monitor and setup alerting mechanism for both database and supporting hardware to ensure system health and maximum availability

Technical Experiences Required:

Possess at least 3 years of hands on development utilizing a PostgreSQL database;
Possess at least 2 years of managing a multi-tenant production Greenplum environment;
Deep knowledge of the interworking’s of the Greenplum architecture
At least 2 year of experience leveraging Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS AWS Certification is preferred;
Proven experience with identifying hardware and software related issues.
A deep understanding of Greenplum design principals, cluster connectivity, security and the factors that affect distributed system performance.
Experience with Ansible or other Infrastructure as Code software
Expert experience with at least one of the following languages; perl, python, java, spark or bash.
Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
Experience with complex networking infrastructure including firewalls, VLANs, and load balancers.
