"SAN and Storage operations in a storage environment of 80 PB consisting of DMX-3/DMX-4/VMAX 20K, VMAX 3, Clariion/VNX Frames, EMC XtremeIO, HP 3 PAR, Cisco MDS, Brocade and McData enterprise directors.

Day to day responsibilities include troubleshooting various production issues of host not seeing storage, single path failures and performance based issues.

Engage with System's Admin, DBA and Application teams for validating source and target RDF devices and to approve SRDF split/establish requests.

Investigate the host path failure issues to identify the cause and resolving the issues with HBA, cable and SFPs if any.

Implementing, planning and testing Disaster Recovery solution using SRDF/Asynchronous. Split the SRDF pairing for the devices during activity and guide SA, DBA to mount the target devices and bring up the DB/application on the remote side for testing.

Work with vendors like EMC, Hitachi, HP, IBM and Cisco - in case of any Physical or hardware failures to replace the failed components. Provide logs when required to diagnose the issue.

Extensively work on SAN related host connectivity for various operating systems including SUN Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows.

Configuration and allocation of storage for production and corporate VMware hosts from DMX-3/DMX-4 and Clariion including configuration of specific port settings for FA ports.

Expertise in analyzing the performance metrics of Storage frame components (FA/Device/Cache/Disk Adapters/Switches) to investigate issues related to latency and providing best solutions to improve the host IO performance.

Configure VMAX using tools such as Solution Enabler/SMC/Unisphere, create and manage Virtual pools for VMAX, deploy and monitor FAST VP, Also perform VLUN migration when required.

Identify and troubleshoot issues with switch hardware which caused significant credit loss events to multiple hosts causing host aborts, work effectively with vendor to take action and resolve the issue.

Monitor the SAN & Storage alerts regularly across the heterogeneous environment for warnings/critical alarms and proactively took steps to prevent potential issues from occurring.

Extensive experience in performing SRDF operations split/swap/failover/failback/restore as per the requirement from customer and also successfully performed DR testing of multiple applications using SRDF/S & SRDF/A.

Configure zones on Cisco switches using CLI and Fabric Manager for creating zones, updating zones to the zonesets and activating zonesets.

Troubleshoot day to day performance issues and resolve them using Performance Manager. Comparing the port utilization, IOs and read/writes to the disks using performance manager and analyzing the data for trouble shooting performance issues.

Extensive knowledge on Thin provisioning, good understanding of benefits, risks, and how to effectively design and manage a thin provisioned storage environment.

Co-ordinate with facilities team to have HBA/fiber Cable checked when troubleshooting path failure issues.

Participate in on-call rotation during weekend schedule and work towards resolving issues with symmetrix arrays and enterprise SAN switches.

Monitor for suspended SRDF/A groups, resume the links to copy all invalid tracks, change the mode to Async and make sure the devices are in consistent state.

Analyze host grabs and suggest EMC recommended patch upgrades as per BAC standards to SA team.

Perform data migrations from DMX3/DMX4 to VMAX Storage System using array based & host based techniques like Open Replicator/SRDF/Open Migrator.

Provide direct technical support for the coordination and implementation of releases, upgrades or changes to the Windows and UNIX server environments.

Create/update/maintain all storage related documentation and diagrams of the storage hardware.

Submit written project plans and project documents as required by management. Also provided system documentation and technical diagrams.

Adapt & work effectively in constantly changing environment and deliver high quality service.

Asset management expectations and translate them in to deliverables that meet business needs.
