Description:
Under general direction applies advanced software concepts to plan, design, develop, modify, debug, deploy and evaluate highly complex software for core, systems with a full understanding of information technology practices, community standards and relevant policies and procedures to large projects with broad scope and complexity.
Analyzes existing highly complex software or works to formulate logic and devises algorithms for new highly complex software systems.
Performs highly complex data analysis and tests/debugs highly complex software, working directly with management. Initiates, analyzes, designs and applies highly complex data sources. Applies and enforces complex programming security practices.
Resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates competency in selecting tools, methods and techniques to obtain results.
Work with a client community of departmental managers and administrative staff.
Manage projects and planning by communicating project information, conducting demonstrations, design sessions, and providing support.
Take the lead on highly complex applications and work with other team members to oversee each project''s overall success.
Qualifications:
Advanced experience programming in the Ellucian Banner Student Information System. Experience developing and applying test plans.
Experience to ensure the application of advanced secure software development standards.
Experience with software specification, design, modification, implementation and deployment of complex large-scale systems.
Project leadership and management skills.
Experience to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. Experience to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
Experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.
Experience using software repositories.
Experience developing and executing complex test plans.
Experience solving complex problems.
Advanced programming experience using SQL, PL/SQL and Java-related technologies.
Intermediate understanding of middleware systems including LDAP, CAS security, and user authorization systems.
Experience working in an environment using established standards, practices, and methodologies, including local development, version control, issue queues, support ticket systems, quality reviews, and project management.
Experience with the use of a revision control system such as Subversion, CVS, Bitbucket, RCS or Microsoft Visual SourceSafe and bug reporting systems such as JIRA
Preferred:
Experience working with technical teams to build requirements and use cases.
Writing and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and clearly with technical and non-technical audiences
Skill to work in a flexible environment of uncertainties, ambiguities and frequent changes.
