The Scrum Master is part of a Scrum Team and responsible for ensuring that Scrum is understood and enacted. The Scrum Master is a servant-leader for the Scrum Team and helps people outside the Scrum Team understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Team are helpful and which aren’t and then help everyone change these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Scrum Master Service to the Product Owner:
· Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management
· Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items
· Understanding product planning in an empirical environment
· Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value
· Understanding and practicing agility
· Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed
Scrum Master Service to the Development Team:
· Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality
· Helping the Development Team to create high-value products
· Removing impediments to the Development Team’s progress
· Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed
· Coaching the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood
Scrum Master Service to the Organization:
· Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption
· Planning Scrum implementations within the organization
· Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development
· Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team
· Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving ability
· Experience with working in a business software development environment
· Proficiency in presenting ideas and analysis results to a group of stakeholders and users
· Comfortable speaking in front of groups

· Understanding of fundamentals of software development processes in particular iterative software development
· Familiarity with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
· Understanding of Agile software engineering practices sufficient to help team adopt and consistently apply them
· Understanding of incremental delivery and the value of metrics
· Understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
· Software Development background is a plus
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email software
· Experience with electronic Scrum boards and related software tools
· Ability to learn other software applications
Education / Professional Experience:
Relevant professional experience below should be in one or more of these areas:
· Leadership, management, teaching, coaching experience
· Working in a software development environment
· Working in an Agile and/or Scrum organization
· BS or equivalent professional experience plus 2+ years relevant experience

Scrum Alliance Cert or Equiv
Authorization to work unrestricted in the USA
Currently living or willing to relocate to Fairfield or a commutable distance.
