Senior MySQL DBA
Downers Grove, IL
Contract
Required Skills:
Strong hands-on experience supporting Enterprise MySQL: versions: MySQL 5.5+
Good knowledge of Linux/Window OS
install & configuring database (single node/clusters/Master&Slave/VM’s) including patching & upgrades
Refresh data as required.
Provide and ensure security measures.
Proactively monitor database activities
Ensuring database availability
Perform capacity planning and monitoring
DR/Failover services
Perform incident/request activities
Perform/setup backup/recovery
Database Tuning/Troubleshooting
Support Master/Slave configuration
Tune/debug MySQL code as required
Must be a self-starter (proactive, innovator)
Follow strict change control policies
Must be able to effectively interface with Internal/External customers
Must have great teaming skills
Must be able to document processes and procedures for team support (SOP’s)
Must be able to multi-task activities based on priority
Must be able to take on-call rotations as needed
Passionate customer service and drive to grow a viable database tower
Knowledgeable on current trends supporting MySQL.
Nice to Have:
MySQL Development skills – improve automation
Perconna DB, MariaDB or MySQL (AWS)
SQL Server or Oracle DB Administration (experience) – a good secondary platform support skill
Skills with various MySQL Server monitoring software including open source.
Strong mentoring skills.
