Title: DevOps- Build Engineer
Location: Durham, NC 27707
Duration: 6+ months
Job Purpose:
Act as the central point of control and communication for the software deployment effort, coordinating with the appropriate parties and directing the efforts of multiple teams responsible for planning, analyzing and developing solutions to integrate technical, business and system needs. Candidate is responsible for building, automating, deploying and overall quality of code versioning for application enhancements across development, test and production environments.
Job Functions/Components:
Developing scripts to automate the software application builds, packages and deployments.
Working with RTC for source code and version control.
Support activities related to migration of applications from Serena Source Control to RTC SCM.
Provide consultation, oversight and best practice principles in source code branching and merging strategy to the development staff.
Work closely with the development staff on developing best practices and processes in the Build Management practice.
Contribute to the maintenance of standard development and test environments.
Integrating application changes with web servers and databases as necessary.
May be required to work weekends and on-call hours as deemed necessary.
Education/Experience:
3+ years’ experience as a RTC admin and at least a total of 10 years of experience with other SCM tools
Experience with hands-on development of large, complex, configuration management efforts involving multiple development teams and platforms (J2EE/Message Broker); specifically in an Agile framework
Heavy experience developing automated build frameworks within the PC, Unix environments with tools like; Nexus, Sonar, Jenkins, Ant, Maven and Build Forge
Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux and/or Windows
Hands-on experience with Windows batch scripts and Unix shell scripting
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and understandable technical documentation
Experience working with development teams in a CI and Agile build framework including Test Drive Development (TDD)
Must be a team player who can fit in with existing team members
