Position Summary::
OVERVIEW
The Asset Manager is responsible for the daily and long-term strategic and operational management of software and technology-related hardware for the company. This encompasses planning, monitoring, and recording software license and/or hardware assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts in various software tools. The individual will employ a continuous improvement approach to optimize the strategies used for technology spending in the company and the related tracking of company assets across their lifecycles within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB
The Asset Management Team Lead is also responsible for the management of the CMDB as well as the accuracy of the content within the CMDB. This role has supervisory responsibility over a small staff of procurement analysts. This position will also provide standardized reporting, KPI/Metric information on a scheduled basis along with ad hoc reporting as requested by management. This role participates in various projects in support of both the VPs of Finance and Infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities:
Staff and Performance Management of a small team of Asset Analysts
Define and improve identification scheme for software- and hardware-related assets and CIs, including attributes, versioning and dependencies in the asset management tools, the CMDB and the Contract management library
Manage inventory of assets and CIs (including attributes and dependencies); ensure that additions, modifications and withdrawals of existing ones are properly recorded in the tools by the teams in charge, to ensure compliance with the vendor contracts.
Manage lifecycle of software and hardware models in the DML, from their introduction to their retirement.
Produce and distribute reports on existing assets and CIs and their current status including compliance reports, conduct trend analyses
Verify and audit CMDB and DML content: check conformity of hardware assets with actual inventory, verify software assets with license contracts, initiate and track corrective actions
Manage activities related to license compliance audits to answer requests from software editors
Ensure the key performance indicators are implemented for the process efficiency and continuously propose enhancements to the process
Design, implement and improve processes related to software and hardware asset management
Create and maintain documentation of processes, procedures and reportsrelating to asset and configuration management
Participate in other ITSM processes, or act as a backup as required to sustain operational activities
Accountable a small Asset Management and Procurement Team
Must be Highly Experienced in Contract Management (Microsoft, IBM, Cisco ILMT experience a plus
Develop and implement strategic asset management and governance function
Work with Infrastructure teams to track asset performance trends
Research and incorporate industry best practices with organizational practices
Create and maintain software and hardware maintenance database
Ensure compliance of software and hardware license agreements
Contract management
Develop, implement, and enforce inventory control process. Experience in ServiceNow a plus
Review the procurement process and explore improvements in process efficiencies and controls
Develop reports to aid in budgeting and forecasting hardware and software asset and maintenance purchases/renewals
Work with Finance team to ensure assets are properly recorded on the company balance sheet
Identifies which Configuration Items (CIs) need to be managed and controlled from the basis of Inventory, Asset and Configuration Management
Proposes and agrees to the Configuration Item types and level of detail at which CIs are to be identified
Ensures that the CMBD reflects the real-time state of the IT infrastructure
Defines integration requirements to support other IT Service Management processes
Audits the CMDB against the infrastructure to measure and report on data integrity and compliance
Continually reviews the Configuration Management process for efficiency and effectiveness
Plans and executes the population of the CMDB (manual or automated)
Works with system management tools to assist with CMDB data integrity
Position will require travel of up to 10%
This Requirement for Analyst role::
Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience/Certification/Skills):
5+ years in IT Asset Analyst role with strong knowledge of IT Hardware and Software
5+ years experience in managing staff
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or business administration required related field or equivalent
5+ years of knowledge and experience with working with a CMDB and defining Business Services that it supports
This for manager role::
5+ years of experience with an ITSM tool required, ServiceNow experience a plus
Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing Strategic Asset Management processes
Solid knowledge of software licensing agreements, especially Microsoft, Oracle, and IBM
Demonstrated impactfulStrong negotiation and vendor management skills
Knowledge of IT Service Management processes and Discovery tool experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
IAITAM Certification preferred – CSAM, CHAMP, CITAM
