Looking for a Systems and Storage Architect who will be instrumental in transforming how IT computing services are leveraged to support company growth. This role will involve driving strategy, architecture, roadmaps, and execution of projects that will enable Salesforce to continue as the model for cloud IT infrastructure services.

Your Impact - Responsibilities:

Architecture :

Definition of the Technologies, Components, Systems, Data Model, Contracts, and Nonfunctional Requirements that describes how to meet the requirements for a Feature or Product; includes risks and benefits for proper decision making at Steerco level
Define IT infrastructure standard frameworks, blueprints and artifacts for the entire IT Infrastructure lifecycle ( specifically in the Compute and Storage domain )
Work with the platform managers to set the standards and designs to be used as part as solution delivery to internal customers
Roadmap :

Collaborate with Leadership, Domain Architects (Business, Application, Data, Security, and Infrastructure), and Infrastructure Technical Leads on overall roadmap and priority alignment with the company for the next 12-36 months
Strategy :

Perform ROI and other cost-benefit analysis of new strategies and technologies
Work with strategic vendors in the realization of our vision
Solutioning :

Lead large and transformational infrastructure project implementations ensuring engineers fully leverage the technology for future solutions and designs
Work closely with engineers and other infrastructure groups in the execution of technology proof of concepts, pilots and the technology adoption lifecycle
Validate technical design and solutions
Culture :

Develop and foster cross organizational Domain relationships between Business, Application, Data, Security, and Infrastructure
DevOps evangelist
Drive process adoption through documentation, brown bags, tech talks, along with discussions with the team, program, and organization.
Leadership :

Communicate overall vision, strategy, and roadmap to business counterparts
Collaborate with leadership to manage business stakeholder expectations effectively
Mentor, influence, and evangelize environmental changes upon the introduction of new services

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Masters (+10 years work experience in an engineering role ) or Bachelor''s (+ 15 years work experience in an engineering role) degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Deployments: Experience building and configuring multiple systems to support large-scale (1000+) virtualization platforms. Hands on experience in designing, implementing, optimizing and managing global enterprise level systems and storage infrastructure including NAS and SAN
Roadmap: Proven experience to evaluate then introduce a wide variety of systems technologies and tools. Experience in creating both short and long term enterprise system and storage technology roadmaps based on an understanding of the organizational strategic directions, technology and business needs.
Standards:

Experience in building hybrid cloud and integration of private and public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
Experience with server virtualization platforms - VMWare, Hyper-V, KVM hypervisors and experience with operating system (Windows and Linux)
Experience with hyper-converged systems, and container technologies like: Docker, Kubernetes, Openstack,
Working knowledge infrastructure system services (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS/NFS, NTP, SSH, SYSLOG, APACHE, SSL, etc
Datacenter Server implementation and operation expertise (Racks, UPS, Cable management, out-of-band, etc
Experience in hardware monitoring
Experience in Enterprise Storage and Backup technologies - Data Domain, Hot and Cold - Cloud Backup Solutions
Experience in designing and implementing disaster recovery for both on-prem and off-prem environment.
Automation:

Ability to code and script in any administrative language (i.e. Ruby, Python, PowerShell, Bash
Experience with Configuration management tools, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible.
Maintain revision control, automated testing workflow, continuous integration and delivery experience i.e. Git, Jenkins. Github contributions.
Experience with orchestration technologies (i.e. AWS Cloudformation, VMware vRealize Automation, OpenStack, Red Hat Cloudforms, UCS Director
Process: Demonstrated understanding and respect of change-control process management.
Troubleshooting: Strong analytical/problem solving skills, ability to provide alternatives, root cause analysis, and ability to make thoughtful proposals.
People Skills: Must have effective oral and written communications. Comfortable speaking with leadership, engineer, customer, in one-on-one, group, or in large audience presentation setting. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and balance conflicting demands. Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Team player and self-motivated.

Preferred Qualifications:


Knowledge with DevOps technologies and cloud-based provisioning.
Understanding of common security protocols such as Kerberos, RSA, TACACS+, IPSec, PKI and SFTP
Knowledge with storage technologies such as Ceph, Gluster, HDFS, and ZFS
Good understanding of Networking, NAS, SAN fabric, EMC Powerpath and Arrays.
Multi-vendor knowledge, including Dell/EMC, Netapp, Pure, Commvault, Veritas storage platforms is a plus.
One or more related industry certifications.
Knowledge with ITIL foundation.
Knowledge in supporting Database Infrastructure, especially Oracle RAC.
Knowledge of Salesforce technologies (Force.com, Admin)
