Title: ETL QA Engineer
Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL
Duration: 6-7 months
Description of Role:
Run tests, build test cases, create testing plans, document best practices, and communicate results/recommendations to engineering team. Defines and documents operational processes to provide consistently high quality customer experience, while streamlining operations and reducing costs when possible. Works with other IT and technology teams to refine technical specifications for test analysis and quality assurance. Ability and aptitude to learn quickly and work within a team environment. Effectively communicate with other engineers and understand effectively how the business works with the associated data.
Responsibilities:
Lead complex testing efforts on major projects. Analyze ''hard to test or replicate'' scenarios and come up with strategies on how to overcome these challenges. Create very detailed test plans. Decompose complex requirements. Execute complex test cases and perform ''end to end'' system testing. Lead regression testing efforts. Champion QA ''Best Practices'' and encourage team members to adhere to them. Work with test automation and performance test engineers to develop test scripts. Analyze and replicate production issues in QA. Provide input into test metrics. Mentor QA Analysts on QA Best practices and adherence to QA policy at client.
Required Skills:
- 4 + years of experience testing business intelligence solutions and related components
- Expert in the Test definition, test design, test documentation, test execution, test coverage traceability and the test process.
- Experience writing testing cases Data Centric Systems
- Strong experience with MS SQL server databases and Financials
- Knowledge of architectural tool components, dashboards
- Skills in data warehouse methodology; data analysis, modeling and design; and ETL testing using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2005/2008/2012.
- Knowledge of relational and dimensional data models, as well as relational databases and excellent SQL skills.
- Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes (SSAS) is required.
- Understanding of data rollups/aggregation, capacity planning, data standardization, slowly changing dimensions and data security
- Ability to design and execute test scripts and plans for unit, integration, regression and UAT testing processes
- Experience in testing web services, preferably with a large scale e-commerce system
- Excellent Documentation skills from a technical and Analytical set of documentation scope related to the testing team and its efforts.
- Experience working with Source control systems, Vault / Subversion or similar.
- Experience working with Agile Project Management tools, TFS or similar.
- Experience a plus but not required – Script deployments into QA, Redgate toolset, Cozyroc, ETL Automation
- Experience working with defect management tools and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and be a great team player.
- Must demonstrate a flexibility to multi task and able to handle multiple priorities at the same time not compromising on Quality levels.
Education/Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience in the above skills or related position
- BA/BS in Computer Science
- Familiarity with Testing in Agile software development methodology or a good mix of various fast paced models.
- Knowledge on the financial industry a plus.
- Strong ETL testing experience.
