Role Summary:
We are seeking a Senior System Engineer, with a proven track record as a team player, to join the electronic brokerage division. The candidate will be responsible for design, development and support of low latency trading systems within a global environment.
Key Accountabilities:
The candidate must have an eagerness and ability to learn new skills and work within a team.
Hands on systems administration, hardware engineering and exposure to benchmarking experience.
Write scripts for systems administration and operational tasks.
Write thorough and accurate technical documentation for use by staff.
Participate in proactive monitoring and support to maintain the health of the global server environment, including regular software and firmware patching.
Work to define, document and apply global standards to the environment.
Participate in on-call rotations and out of hours work as needed.
Person Specification:
Knowledge/Experience:
Red Hat Linux experience: Minimum of eight years Linux administration experience.
Financial services experience a plus.
The candidate must have hands-on experience managing a large number of mission critical servers.
Experience managing high frequency, low latency trading systems is a plus.
Knowledge of HP x86 hardware.
Familiarity with VMware, 3PAR and Puppet.
Ability to communicate with all levels of staff, both within IT and Business units.
Willingness to cover shift wok and on-call rotation.
Work independently on projects and tasks from inception to deployment.
Special Skills:
Design and support accompanying technologies such as virtualization, RedHat satellite server and puppet.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP and Linux networking.
Familiarity with 10 GbE, kernel bypass technologies
Advanced scripting skills (bash, Perl and/or Python, Ruby
Kernel tuning knowledge a plus.
BIOS tuning and optimization for low latency platforms.
