The Automation, Equipment and Test (AET) Team is responsible for making the robots that make the robots. We develop and maintain equipment, fixtures, and tooling that optimize and streamline the manufacturing process of instruments and accessories.

Primary Function of Position:

The engineer in this position will play a key role on the Manufacturing Software Engineering team to enable the manufacture of new surgical robotic instruments. This engineer will develop the software and algorithms that aggregate and route labeling and laser-marking data. The position will require close collaboration with technical publications, IT, and Regulatory teams to build a coherent diagnostic strategy and develop software to implement extensible, and broadly applicable labeling data management tools.

This role requires but is not limited to:
Design and architect software systems and interfaces related to data management and labeling processes
Communication using web services (SOAP) to interface with enterprise applications
Follow good software development practices (TDD, design documentation)
Work independently to overcome roadblocks with minimum guidance
Take ownership of manufacturing software and work with cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion
Support existing production software
Design, document, and qualify software for use with a variety of surgical instruments and accessories
Skill/Job Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Software Engineering or Computer Science
3+ years of software development experience
Motivated to continually improve best practices
Adaptable to dynamic requirements
Enjoy the thrill of tackling large complex problems
Capable of driving to resolution within constraints
Strong ability to communicate complex concepts to engineers in different functional areas
Detail oriented team player

Solid understand of Object Oriented Design Patterns
Familiarity with Python
Strong programming skill and experience

Preferred:
Able to architect, develop, and test projects from inception to launch
A track record for planning, executing and delivering on projects
Familiarity with databases (SQL, No-SQL, etc …)
Fully understand Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Industry experience in architecture and development of scalable production manufacturing systems
Development methodologies (Agile, TDD, Waterfall, etc …)
Development tools (Git, Jira, etc …)
Experience in medical device manufacturing or regulated engineering environment
Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
