The Data Modeler manages and organizes data by analyzing, developing and implementing data models, policies and standards in relational data definitions. Develops data models that support the integration and organization of data/information flow across systems and platforms, while deriving Metadata for future use. Accountable for creation and enforcement of methodologies and standards for data modeling. Consults with users to determine data requirements, identifies opportunities to reduce data redundancy, identifies and analyzes trends in data uses. Accountable for depicting the physical flow and definitions of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations. The Data Modeler is accountable for complex projects and systems involving multiple diverse processes.
Develops and manages canonical models
Promotes data modeling standardization, defines and drives adoption of data modeling standards
Analyzes and translates business requirements into usable data and meta-data models
Observe, scribe and participate in business information requirements sessions for transactional applications (OLTP) and information centric projects (master data, data warehouse, data marts etc)
Review gap analysis on existing data to identify needs
Provides input into and works with partners on application and enforcement of standards, procedures and policies related to data management principles
Analyzes and translates business requirements into usable data models and metadata
Partners with Database Administrators to validate that database designs are accurately translated and built
Analyzes and proposes physical/relational data base designs that meet the clients needs, are extensible, stable and easy to maintain
Constructs integrated, logical data designs for canonical models, transactional applications and information centric projects
Resolves conflicts/issues in design models and requests for changes.
Conducts analysis and provides recommendations regarding data usage and trends
Accountable for physical depiction of data definitions and physical flow
Accountable for complex projects and systems involving multiple diverse processes
