Title: SAP Application Development ERP Architect

Position Summary
The Application Development Architect will be responsible for architecture and design of the SAP systems supporting the KCS landscape. These include solution architecture oversight for SAP Finance, Controlling, Materials Management, Project Systems, HR, Payroll and GRC Access Control.
The role requires experience working with SAP in the Railroad Industry and/or similar asset intensive industries e.g. Oil & Gas, Utilities, and Telecommunications etc. We are looking for an individual who is well versed in multiple end to end business process areas such as Record to Report (Finance), Hire to Retire (HR), Procure To Pay (Purchasing), and Acquire to Retire (Asset Management Additionally, the architect must be knowledgeable about SOX compliance.
The SAP architect must be able to gather business requirements, identify core business processes, and determine which business application within the current/future business application portfolio best supports the business requirements and processes.
Must be able to articulate a high level business application sunset or adoption roadmap to Senior Level IT and business stakeholders and describe business operations impact (change management
Works with other Business Area Solution Architects to discuss and document master data, integration, and cross business application processes and dependencies.
We need an individual who is able to look at the Big Picture but also able to roll up his/her sleeves and dig into the details.
Functional Duties
Provide ERP architectural support:
Provides consulting on solutions, including how to leverage standard SAP technologies/functionality and how to enable requirements while minimizing on-going maintenance costs.
a. Translates business requirements into specific system, application or process designs covering both functional and non-functional aspects.
i. Strong understanding of business best practices.
ii. Capability to quickly acquire in-depth understanding of processes and of integrated non-SAP systems.
iii. Ability to translate business requirements into best in class SAP solutions.
b. Participates in multiple design activities, from requirements analysis to systems, application and/or process design specification.
c. Provide expertise on application architecture design or application rationalization related to:
i. Record to Report (Finance)
ii. Hire to Retire (HR)
iii. Procure To Pay (Purchasing)
iv. Acquire to Retire (Asset Management)
v. SOX Compliance
Owns SAP Roadmap: Partners with other Architects, vendors, business and technical teams to understand SAP system needs and translate into capability and platform roadmaps.
a. Owns the SAP solution template and design for their functional area, and drives the SAP solution roadmap within the business.
b. Act as a center of expertise, staying abreast of developments in the SAP space and continually upgrading functional knowledge.
c. Stays up to date with the latest emerging technologies in SAP space like Suite on HANA, S4, Ariba, SuccessFactors, GRC etc.
Leads the architectural governance function/processes during the implementation (ensure the ongoing alignment of business architecture, functional architecture and technical architecture from a functional/solution perspective
a. Collaborates with the Super user teams, Technical and Infrastructure teams to ensure right solution is designed and deployed.
b. Provides direction to the implementation teams during solution realization.
c. When required, analyzes changes necessary to the solution architecture triggered by changes in business requirements, processes or technical requirements, develop options to incorporate the changes and take/facilitate the appropriate decisions.
d. Evaluates application system needs across multiple systems and develop corresponding application and logical data architectures and standards.
