Job Title: PMP Senior Software Project Manager (Software Implementations)
Duration : Direct Hire/ Full Time position
Location : Newport News, VA & Salida, California

Position Qualifications:
We are looking for a Senior Software Project Manager who:
Thrives on managing/motivating teams to deliver
Enjoys working with the client and producing on time, high quality, on budget results
Negotiates effectively with client and teams for a successful end result
Understands (or is willing to learn) quoting, rating, underwriting, enrollment, policy administration, business processes, and how our software works and then guide the client with consultative choices
Majority of previous Project Management experience needs to be related to managing software development and IT implementations, preferably in material handling, manufacturing or processing environment
Is able to travel an average of 50, with lows of 25 and heights of 75 depending on various phases of the project
Is able to remain away from home for two / three weeks of time during key project phases such as requirements confirmation, implementation, user acceptance testing etc.

Education:
B.S. or B.A. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent Engineering degree.

Required Skills:
Requirements
8+ years software development and implementation experience, from which at least 5+ years PM experience managing software development
Former experience as a developer.
Development experience does not have to be recent but must be able to read/communicate code/development issues, i.e. "talk shop" with internal and external technical resources and decision makers
General understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design with:
Java /J2EE or C#/''NET application development
Relational databases (Oracle or MSSQL, MySQL)
XML, SOAP Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures
Prior experience managing box type software implementation(s)
Prior experience managing IT projects with hardware implementation, networking, virtual environments
Has managed a team of 6 or more
Proficiency in using more than one SDLe methodology
Experienced user of ALM tools and mentor to the project team
Competent with MS Project, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Excellent customer management skills for administration, resolving issues and building customer relationships
External customer relationship management and facilitation skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effective listening and problem solving skills
Ability to respond strongly and positively to challenging work and deadlines
Work as an integral part of a talented team in a fast-paced, proactive environment

Other Preferred Skills and Experience:

Master''s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Business, or Communication
Prior experience with projects in production / manufacturing environments integrating Software applications with Automation systems and Controls
General data communications and network operating systems knowledge
Direct management experience including: hiring/firing, performance reviews, Coaching/mentoring, etc.
Experience in budgeting, financial and organizational governance
Agile, Scrum Master
PMP/PMI certification
