Job Responsibilities:
Client is transitioning FTP services from an old FTP server in the environment to two new SFTP servers in the environment at the data centers. The vision is that the servers will be setup to ‘mirror’ each other; however, there is no intention for load balancing, etc. (they simply want the scripts ready to go on both servers in the event they need to manually transition or fail over service from one to the other In order to accomplish this, the existing FTP-related scripts need to be moved from the old server to both of the new servers. This includes making modifications to the scripts so that function on the new servers, modifying the scripts to run within the OpCon job scheduling application provided by client, and coordinating efforts between those involved to cutover to the new servers.
Basic Qualifications:
8-10+ years of Linux server administration
- Prefer: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.1
- Prefer: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.7 (Preferred)
5+ years of experience developing, testing, and supporting Linux scripting languages
- Required: 3+ years of experience with Python
- Prefer: 1+ years of Perl and Bash
Strong experience with FTP and SFTP services, administration, authentication methods, and fundamentals
- Prefer: PureFTPd
- Prefer: vsftpd
Strong experience with job scheduling software, techniques, debugging, and fundamentals
- Prefer: OpCon
- Prefer: Cron Tab
Experience with mailing list services
- Prefer: Mailman
- Prefer: GovDelivery
Experience with MySQL
Experience with LDAP and Active Directory
Strong leadership qualities
Takes ownership and drives projects
Coordinate cutover of the stakeholders from the old server to the new servers
Provide regular status updates to the project management team on progress
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to gather, monitor and document business requirements
Strong analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills
Must have good understanding of IT Infrastructure from both hardware and application support perspectives
Good understanding IT Infrastructure processes and systems flows, and ability to consider implications to current and future state environment
