The SharePoint Business Support Specialist responds to requests from agency business users for SharePoint 2010 assistance. The role performs ‘power-user’ type activities (this is NOT a developer role

Job Description:
The SharePoint Business Support Specialist is responsible for the support of agency departments’ use of SharePoint 2010. In response to user requests, the specialist preforms ‘power-user’ type activities, e.g. helping end-users configure document libraries, lists, web parts, etc.; building page content or basic workflows; correct user security; etc. Therefore, the Specialist investigates reported incidents, when possible solves the problem, or escalates the issue as needed. In addition, the specialist works with agency staff and the SharePoint IT agile team analysts to discover, document, and maintain user stories for minor requests, e.g. workflows, forms, etc. The specialist will work with the IT Agile team representing the business needs, performing appropriate development activities, and creating and executing system and acceptance test cases.

Responsibilities:
Assist customers with SharePoint sites and site collections, answering questions, training the business ‘Power Users’ and administrators, suggesting improvements to their process or methodology, etc.
Troubleshoot and resolve SharePoint-related problems reported by users; when necessary, escalate and support the SharePoint engineers to resolve problems.
Collaborate with customers on SharePoint projects that may include requirements gathering, use case development and analysis, solution design, creation, and testing.
Perform SharePoint-related administrative and maintenance activities
Experience in the following:
Administering site collections
Managing and configuring libraries and lists including:
Creating and configuring views
Creating and modifying columns
Working with Lookup and Calculation columns
Configuring and working with cross-site publishing and content-rollup
Managing and configuring content including:
Configuring and managing content versioning
Designing, creating, and configuring pages
Using and configuring web parts
Creating and modifying HTML/HTML5 and css
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Familiarity with document management, (content types, document retention custom content types, information management policy and record declaration settings, capacity planning, managed metadata)
Experience creating SharePoint Designer workflows
Experience creating SharePoint Lists
Experience designing and creating SharePoint pages
Experience configuring SharePoint forms
Experience with managing and correcting metadata
Must be able to answer Service Desk questions and prioritize tickets from the help desk
Strong analytical thinking and excellent troubleshooting
Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills
Experience with creating training/job aides, documenting best practices
Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
Must possess the ability to work effectively with business personnel at all levels as well as with outside vendors and contractors
Must exercise a reasonable amount of independent judgment under a minimum of supervision
Must exercise a reasonable amount of self-initiative to improve and/or obtain relevant skills and/or knowledge
Works independently and as a Team player
