Senior Systems Test Engineer
Duration: 18 Months Contract
Location: West Sacramento CA 95691

Description
The Senior Systems Test Engineer participates in the test development and test execution of Microbiology laboratory instruments and software systems. The incumbent will design, develop and execute test plans and protocols, implement innovative and effective test designs while assuring appropriate test coverage; and participate in identifying opportunities for continuous testing improvements. The Senior Systems Test Engineer will team with the systems integration group and all other functional teams to ensure that our verification and validation goals are achieved. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the verification and validation phases of the product development life cycle. The candidate will also be responsible for investigating system issues and successfully determining root cause. May lead and/or participates on multi-functional product research and development teams.

Responsibilities:
Prepares appropriate documentation as required by internal product development process and regulatory agencies such as FDA and ISO.
Uses knowledge to expand on standard techniques and processes in creative and effective ways.
Applies extensive knowledge of technical principals, theories, and concepts in Software and medical instrument Verification/Validation field.
Collaborates with distributed, cross-functional teams to develop appropriate test procedures and determine root causes for failures.
Supports development of project plans, including scope, budget, schedules and risk management
Assists the introduction of methods, tools, technologies and processes with the project team, including quality metrics.
Participates in technical decisions affecting product modules and/or subsystems, including functional specifications and technical reviews.
Recommends process improvements.
Creates test plans, test scripts and executes test cases
Performs code inspections for Unit Tests
Supports and enhances the testing framework
Troubleshoot test environments
Develops software tools to enhance and automate software verification.
Investigates software, hardware, and system problems using a variety of testing techniques.
Uses software testing tools to interpret and evaluate software performance
Integrates research, information and trends into solution to identify and solve complex problems
Writes reports summarizing results of testing.

Qualifications (Musts)
Must possess a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field with 5+ years’ experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years’ experience.
Experience with test design, test execution, test environment configuration, test reporting
Experience with development lifecycle (feasibility, planning, development, validation, and launch

Qualifications (Desired)
Experience with HP Application Lifecycle Management (HP ALM) tools for test planning, test execution, defect management, and requirements management.
Understanding of software development processes for a regulated environment (ISO9000/FDA
Experience in medical device design & development
Experience in microbiology or a clinical lab background
Familiarity with development and support of automated test methods and tools
Experience with configuring networked test configurations and supporting LANs
Advanced degree and relevant certifications
Ability to work with cross-functional and remote teams
