Paint Database Specialist
We are looking for a talented Database Specialist to join our paint team. The right person will be responsible for creating custom databases for retail paint customers which are used in conjunction with the Paint product line. This position also acts as a liaison between the Sales and Applications groups. The role offers a unique opportunity for a self-starter to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Supporting the company''s Quality System, policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and good manufacturing practices
Understand and contribute to Paint Lab goals
Create colorant sets using Match Pigment software
Create product lines merging colorant sets and customer formula books
Converting customer provided spreadsheets or databases for importing into the Paint software
Performing QC verification of new databases to ensure compliance with customer requirements
Participate in brainstorming and implementation of agreed to activities for continuous improvement
Follow high level direction from the Paint Lab Manager regarding priorities of new database projects, with emphasis on self-management and responsibility to accomplish projects on-time
Manage the database master list by creating new part numbers and obsoleting old part numbers in the JDE system
Be the lead for the database release process so that new databases are implemented into LWR production in a timely manner and communicated to Sales, Applications, Purchasing, and Order Entry to support new customer sales orders for POS systems


Required Skills:

Minimum of a 2 year technical degree with at least 2 years of experience working with computer color matching systems and color quality control products, and/or demonstrated capability through equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of SQL programming software
Extensive working knowledge of paint formulation
Experienced in identifying color problems, diagnosing causes and determining corrective actions in an industrial environment
Familiar with the software and hardware development process and able to interact with software engineers
Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Access
Strong spoken and written communication skills for both internal and external parties
Has high personal motivation, self-management, and detail-orientation skills; ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision
Ability to understand and adhere to defined processes
