JAVA LEAD with Life & Annuity Insurance (Remote)

Leads in Greenville, SC. Will consider remote candidates only if they have extensive Life and Annuity Insurance experience or prior experience in GIAS application.

6 month contract with high likelihood of extensions, ideally would like individuals to go perm if all goes well

Manager:
- Only interested in candidates that have at least 3 years of experience
- Looking for candidates that have proven experience in 2+ year commitments in position (does not want to see job-hopping)
- These candidates need to have EXCELLENT communication skills and be able to interact directly with customers.
- If you have any Java candidates that also have Websphere Portal development skills, this is a plus.

Job Description:
This position is essential to the success of our transition and systems integration activities. The candidate is a lead individual contributor who will not only have hands-on development responsibilities but will also be a leader with responsibilities for developing and implementing high quality solutions while mentoring and guiding team members. The candidate will work closely with the business team to transform business requirements into technical specifications, will work closely transition team project managers to ensure adequate reporting of development status, issues, and risks. This individual will be frequently involved in client communications, client meetings, and in development activities which use both on-shore and off-shore development teams.

The lead-analyst will have deep understanding of the technologies involved, will possess leadership traits and a willingness to grow the knowledge of others on the team, and will demonstrate the skills of a technical leader within the organization.

Additionally, the following are key responsibilities and skill requirements:

Guide other professionals and assume overall technical responsibility for the construction, implementation, and success of technical project deliverables.
Identify project requirements and develop/oversee the construction, implementation, and successful delivery of solution.
Expert knowledge across multiple platforms, processes, and architectures.
Utilize high-levels of analytical ability and creativity to analyze complex scenarios.
Anticipate potential problems, consider future trends, assess the opportunities, impacts, and risks while developing and implementing solution deliverables.
Ability to work effectively with external partners, ensuring that we meet quality, technical and security requirements
Mentor other team-members in the same profession
Provide guidance to other team members in new/complex implementations
Lead or provide expert guidance in forming technical approach for integrating hardware, services, software in order to provide technical solution for large, complex project requirements.
Ability to interact and present in front of clients and/or executive management.
Ability to handle complex/difficult issues with professionalism and diplomacy
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; must be able to produce clear, concise, and accurate communications; must be able to clearly convey thoughts, ideas, and direction to peers and team members; must be able to establish and maintain strong/positive work relationships with peers, management, and clients.
Strong time-management, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Ability to write detailed and thorough technical specifications and technical design documents
Must be adaptable and flexible to work environment (including, but not limited to, handling multiple tasks concurrently, working overtime as business needs or project deliverables require, out of town travel on occasions where needed, easily adapt to new assignments, systems, and tools
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience strongly preferred
8+ Years software development experience
3+ Years of technical leadership experience preferred
