Position:- Teradata systems DBA/Teradata DBa
Location:- Troy MI
Position Type:- contract
The client requires an experienced TERADATA System Database Administrator (DBA The resource will administer, maintain, and control the database, associated operating system, and related tools. The resource will participate in knowledge transfer with the current Teradata resource ultimately assuming responsibility for the management of the system.
Key Areas of Responsibility
User Management – Creation and management of Users, Databases, Roles, Profiles and Accounts.
Space Allocation – Assigning and monitoring permanent space, spool space and temporary space.
Database and System Security Control – Granting and revoking access rights on different database and system objects.
System Maintenance and Performance – Setup and use of Viewpoint. Setup and use of Performance Database Collection and Reporting (PDCR
Resource Monitoring – Setup and administer Database Query Log(DBQL), Resusage, and Security Access Logging.
Data Archives, Restores and Recovery – Data Stream Utility and Permanent Journals. Creation and execution of weekly and daily backup scripts. Coordinating backup activities with data maintenance processes. Recovering database object in the case of failure or corruption. Migrating database objects between systems for testing and promotion purposes.
Capacity and Performance Management – Manage all aspects of system, DB, application, and workload to ensure maximum system throughput
Plan for and support hardware and software installation and upgrades.
Coordinate and assist in the implementation of data replication and distribution.
Skills
In depth knowledge of Teradata operations management and control.
In depth knowledge of Teradata data warehousing.
In depth knowledge of Teradata tools or tools associated with the database system
In depth knowledge of security tools.
In depth knowledge of system management and workload management.
Knowledge of Architecture Principles, Advocated Positions, Design Patterns, and Implementation Alternatives.
Work with the appropriate project management methodology (Agile or Waterfall) based upon customer and project requirements
