Role: RUBY ON RAILS DEVELOPER(GC or Citizen only)
Work Location: Silver Spring, MD
Duration: 6 months contract

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently or with other developers, great communication skills and a passion to keep up with the latest web development technologies while maintaining the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
DAY-TO-DAY JOB INCLUDES:
Provide technical design, development, support, and systems administration for IT platforms in highly specialized phases of software development
Implement software and provide technical support along with training on the use of system utilities and operating procedures to the affected end-users
Design, code and test software applications in Ruby, Rails, MySQL/Oracle RDBMS SQL, Javascript, CSS, and HTML languages
Design and develop REST (or SOAP) based APIs to web, and auth services
Review and organize all operational documentation related to the use of systems as well as ensure systems compliance with company policies, procedures and security standards
Perform unit, integration and performance test/analysis of developed software
Participate and contribute to Scrum based SDLC and teams
Train and mentor lower level developers when necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
3+ years of strong Ruby on Rails 3 development experience including MVC, Routing, application testing, and more.
Total software development experience 5 years or more
Strong Unix, Database (MySQL, Postgresql, Oracle etc) developer experience
Experience in software engineering process thru definition, design, development, test and production.
Experience with source control (perfoce, svn, git, etc) and automated deployment, and CI
Experience with REST web services
Strong JavaScript skills, experience with AJAX.
JQuery experience is a plus, but the person should at least have used two of the public JavaScript libraries out there enough to be able to compare them (jQuery, Prototype, Mootools, YUI, ext-js , etc
Experience with client-side JavaScript MVC frameworks desired.
Solid understanding of HTML with CSS, web standards, JSON, and AJAX programming.
Dev Ops experience in Ruby On Rails environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years’ experience in a related field or Masters degree with 5+ years of web based software development experience.
