Job Description:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science and/or Technology Discipline Required Experience • 10+ in technology related field. Railroad Industry definite plus. • 3+ years of Windows – Intermediate to Senior Level • 3+ years of operating as a System Administration/Application Administration at an Intermediate to Senior level • 3+ years Intermediate level understanding of Network engineering (VLANS, traffic optimization, etc) • Basic understanding of GPS / NMEA 183
Systems Integration • 3+ years working in a VMWare Environment • 3+ years maintaining a lab environment • 3+ years troubleshooting application, hardware, and storage environments and infrastructure Preferred Experience Information • Understanding of KCS or other Railroad Operational Processes as it relates to Locomotive, Signal and Communication processes. Skills • Intermediate to senior level Windows administrator • Advanced Systems/software engineering experience with complex scripting abilities. • Experience with Clustering and High Availability Design o Windows Clustering • In-depth knowledge of the configuration practices • Debugging within a complex environment that includes multiple connected devices • Network engineering and remote communications (VLANS, traffic optimization, cell, Wi-Fi, RF, etc) • Encryption protocols (i.e. HMAC, SHA1, AES, block ciphering) • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional small work teams toward task completion • Demonstrated effective analytical and problem solving skills • Professional written and verbal communication skills within the team environment • Ability to work effectively within a variety of solutions • Desire to work in an environment with undefined elements where trial and error is common
