Overview
We are looking for an experienced Mid-Level Technical Support Engineer to work primarily on our Oberon and Agile Reporter products.
Oberon is a product for managing Interest Rate Derivatives and Agile Reporter is a Regulatory reporting product.
This position involves providing 2nd level support to Banks, Hedge Funds, Fund Administrators, Asset Managers, Energy Companies and Insurance Companies.
This is a full time position and is based in our New York office.
In addition the candidate will also work on our collateral management solution.
The candidate will also liaise with our London support team and the Shanghai support and development teams.
The candidate is expected to take ownership of the technical assignments and be required to work collaboratively with other CS team members, Business Analysts/System Analyst and QA engineers to solve client problems and suggest workaround or code fixes where required.
This will also include specialist technical support for internal stakeholders.
The candidate will report to the New York Client Support Manager and work closely with other team members and professional services and the product management team.
Please note that this is not a development role, it is important that candidates with a development background can show clear evidence of having supported a major enterprise application.
Main Role & Responsibilities
Through the use of an Internet based incident management system, analyse, research, replicate and resolve technical client issues
For critical issues identify solutions to get clients back to BAU as quickly as possible
Perform and document root cause analysis
Help to provide solutions/strategies for issue prevention
Follow through on solutions offered to ensure client acceptance
Maintain strong and positive client interactions
Work hands on with the system to configure and test it to ensure that client issues can be resolved
Assist the technical support group in supporting our hosted solutions
Undertake client facing project work and technical guidance to client’s teams as and when required
Develop system requirements to deliver client enhancements and to respond to new marketing requirements
Liaise with the global teams to provide a world class support service in a follow the sun 24x5 support model with very occasional weekend work
Work with Development and QA Engineers to ensure the quality of the code for service packs and patches
Participate in team learning and knowledge sharing activities
Understand the existing technical architecture and infrastructure of the application and maintain the highest level of expertise
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Basic Requirements (Essential):
Degree level education in Computer Science, Physics, Maths or similar IT related subject or with IT/CS as a major component (e.g. IT with Management etc
Ideal Requirements (Advantageous):
Professional qualifications, particularly in ITIL, Oracle, Linux/Unix and Java
Postgraduate degree
Work Experience
Basic Requirements (Essential):
Must have experience working in a technical application support role for a financial services company or a software product company
Must have a minimum of 3 years of technical application and infrastructure troubleshooting experience with distributed, enterprise applications.
Knowledge of full life cycle software development (SDLC)
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills in English. This is critical.

General Financial Industry Knowledge specifically on specifically on Bonds, Futures, Options and Yield Curves
Willingness to engage with and understand the functional side of the application
Strong experience in supporting, troubleshooting and/or implementing Java and Web-based enterprise applications
Knowledge of Java/J2EE
Solid and demonstrable knowledge of Oracle databases (11g and 12c)
Familiarity with RDBMS concepts to identify and resolve database problems
Ability to write/debug SQL statements to analyse data/resolve issues
Knowledge of JBoss, JMS, MQ Series
Knowledge of basic/intermediate commands
Knowledge of Windows Server
Strong structured and analytical problem solving skills
Understand and engage with complex issues, environments and products and work to resolve issues independently and effectively
Must be flexible and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership to follow assignments and issues through to resolution
Must be able to work under pressure on time sensitive issues in a multi-tasking environment
Ability to handle multiple client issues and projects simultaneously, often against tight very deadlines
Must have interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with clients, sometimes to very senior level
Ability to work as part of a global team
Must be eligible to work in the US

Ability to review Java code and identify potential issues

Knowledge of trading or collateral management is a huge plus
Knowledge of front, back or middle office applications in the financial services industry
