Responsible to translate user requirements into a well-defined software and system design.
Collaborate with Project Managers/ Business Analysts and end-users to define and document requirements using established processes and tools given scope constraints -5%
Develop and maintain custom software applications in support of the business needs.
Responsible for building the code using “JAVA/J2EE, JSP, Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, Web Services, SQL. “
Defines and analyzes user requirements/business needs for new and/or enhanced product functionality, and designs databases and SQL functions to support application requirements.

That includes:
Design and creating the objects in Oracle database; writing the PL/SQL stored procedures, triggers, views and complex queries; responsible for performance and tuning the SQL queries. Experience with EDI technologies are a plus.
Developer follows good development practices and software development life cycle involvement with Agile methodologies throughout product development.
Writing well-documented code that is stable and reusable.
Familiar with object-oriented concepts and design patterns.
Able to handle development tasks independently.
Responsible for maintaining the version of the source codes by using the code repository tool effectively (Tools such as VSS, SVN, etc - 85%
Ability to thoroughly unit test all work and deliver an error-free technology component to the team.
Performs quality assurance and end-user acceptance testing to ensure the product satisfied end-user requirements and needs - 5%
Responsible for packaging and deployment of the code on the application server (JBoss etc
Proactively monitor, maintain and enhance existing systems to increase functionality and optimize performance - 5%

Scope:
This position will be used solely for the development of the Workers'' Compensation System replacement. This system must be replaced soon, as it currently resides on outdated technology. The system currently runs on a PowerBuilder application which was built and implemented in 1999/2000 and uses an Oracle 9i database. The application cannot currently be moved to the client Data Center as would be recommended because of the Windows Oracle environment. The entire system needs to be replaced and located at the client Data Center to ensure the equipment and database versions stay current and stable.
