MBTechnosolutions, is currently hiring for a Tableau Administrator for our premier client in Chicago, IL. This is a 6-month contract position in the financial industry.

THE JOB / Tableau Administrator
The position is a member of the Information Delivery team whose goal is to support better data-driven decision making across the enterprise by partnering with business and I.T. teams to deliver effective reporting and analytics solutions. This position will be focused on four key areas of a heavily used instance of Tableau Server v9.3: Monitoring & Issue Resolution, Administration, Load Testing, and Content Retirement. As a member of the Information Delivery team, the Tableau Administrator may perform these activities within defined projects, small enhancements and in direct support of the business users or other I.T. teams. An important success criteria for this role will be the ability to operate autonomously given some guiding principles and goals.

THE WORK YOU’LL DO »
Gather data and create dashboards to highlight performance of extract refreshes, dashboard rendering, email subscriptions, and some relevant data covering virtual machine resource utilization (i.e. storage, CPU, and RAM)
Follow-up on any errors reported in content, data refresh, and email delivery
Monitor publishing activities and changes to data refreshes
Monitor HTTPD log files (and others as necessary) for errors
Create and update schedules to support data refreshes and email delivery
Create and update groups and assist in diagnosis/resolution of permissions-related issues
Periodically meet with site owners to understand and respond to upcoming changes in server demand
Create load test routines for non-production environments to examine server behavior at and above current production load levels. Maintain load tests periodically to mirror latest production content usage patterns
Use load test to validate new software versions, operating system patches, and alternate server application configurations
Create dashboards to identify unused workbooks, views, and data sources
Work with site owners to archive and retire unused content
Periodically upgrade dev environment to latest version offered by Tableau
Coordinate batch operations across site owners to avoid server resource shortages
Monitor release notes, known issues and security vulnerability lists on Tableau website
Assist with content performance tuning as time permits
Test latest versions of mobile and desktop browsers
Assist with embedding content in other web applications such as SharePoint
Assist with content ownership transfer of as authors are removed from the system

Qualifications
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS »
Must understand foundational web technologies such as HTTP, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP, certificates, etc.
Can write basic SQL queries to retrieve results from multiple tables
Must have basic debugging skills to track down the root cause of issues
Must have a working understanding of a batch scheduling system – TWS experience preferred
Must understand authentication and authorization, including a basic knowledge of Kerberos and SAML
Able to parse log files and trace issues across a modular application like Tableau
Must understand various server processes within the Tableau application and how they interact

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE »
4+ years of Tableau server administration experience with version 8.0 or higher
2+ years creating dashboards and visualizations in Tableau Desktop version 8.0 or higher

Can build relationships with site owners to foster trust and drive better communication
Exceptional communication skills, written and oral, with demonstrated ability to shift between technical and non-technical audiences
