Sr Java Developer Advisor 

Norfolk, VA

1. Experience with core java framework. 
2. Experience with webservices (SOAP and Rest preferred) 
3. Experience with databases (Mongo DB or IBM DB2 preferred) 
4. Experience with UI technologies (Angular preferred) 

Job Description 
Collaborating with peers, reviewing complex change and enhancement requests. 
Evaluating potential changes and enhancements for objectives, scope and impact. 
Taking a proactive approach to development work, leading peers and partners to strategic technical solutions in a complex IT environment. 
Documenting functional/technical requirements and design based on requirements or objectives. 
Developing and maintaining complex components of information systems. 
Mentoring peers on coding standards, patterns and strategy. 
Guiding the team on best practices in Java as well as performing code reviews. 
Creating and performing unit tests, as well as resolving and retesting any defects identified. 
Building and maintaining active relationships with customers to determine business requirements. 
Partnering with other IT teams during integration activities to facilitate successful implementations 
Participating in on-call application support and responding to application issues when identified. 
Communicating effectively with technical peers in a clear manner, while also being able to articulate complex solutions in ways non-technical business partners can understand 

Experience with some of the following languages/technologies: 
6+ years of Java experience, to include Spring MVC and Hibernate 
Experience with Maven for building code 
Troubleshooting experience 
Experience consuming/producing REST and SOAP services 
Experience using relational databases (Oracle, DB2, SQLServer, etc 
Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture 
JavaScript, jQuery, some Angular preferred 
o JavaScript, Angular, Go, Python and open source such as Linux 
o Java/J2EE, Neo4J,Node.js, REST, SOAP 
o PHP, Perl, MySQL, MS SQL 
o noSQL DBs like MongoDB 

Interview Information 
Step 1: 
Candidate must complete an IKM Assessment (Core Java w/ Spring Framework) 
References must answer the below questions: 
How did this person react under pressure? 
How did this person perform under high stress situations or tight project deadlines? 
What was your feedback from the business on this person? 

Step 2: 
WebEx with application development practice to do a coding assessment and technical interview. 

Step 3: 
30-45 Minute WebEx with hiring managers and team. 

The team is very direct and provides continuous feedback. Personality''s on team are very "big" and really look for someone who can take initiative and hit the ground running. 
Working onsite and collaborating with additional team members working remote or at other sites. 
Agile Environment with daily standups and open collaboration. 
o Team sits remotely across the country, but manager wants all contractors in VA Beach. Heavy communication is key and quality is what they are pride themselves on. The team is responsible for majority of the development within the medical care management team. Last year the team only had 1 defect. Clean code. Looking for someone with a mindset to take initiative, problem solver, and ability to learn/open to feedback.
